I would take this over an Asteroids movie any day. And yes, in case you've been living under a rock, there really is an Asteroids movie in the works.

The funniest part about this trailer is a two-year-old joke from Dale North. College Humor did a Minesweeper movie trailer back in 2007 and Dale made a crack about how horrible a Sims movie would be. As a horror-comedy movie, The Sims movie could be good. Better than all that Saw sh*t anyway.

Also, Dale North is so dreamy. I would love to just sit next to him in a park as we hold hands and watch him talk sh*t about everyone that's walking by. This last thing has nothing to do with this post, but I thought I would share anyway.

Oh what I'd give to be able to watch Dtoid vids on my iPhone. Perhaps however in this instance it may not be a bad thing.

It's actually really fun to listen to Dale North talk shit about everybody who walks by. It's also HILARIOUS to ask him his opinions on different places to eat as you drive by them.
Dale, if you read this, we need to hang out sooner than later again. Wish you were at GameX, but I guess we'll always have MAGFest, right? I mean, you gotta spend SOME time with me so I can cart your ass around to eat!

The really scary thing is that they're apparently planning to make an actual movie based on the Sims. Assuming it hasn't been canned, of course, as most of the news about this that I found is at least a couple years old.

And there's this.

The idea for the movie was about 2 teens who picked up ‘The Sims Infinity Pack’ at an odd video game store, and when they play the game the kids start to notice things taking effect in the real world. They decide to use it to their advantage but then things quickly turn against them.

If that's what it would have been, that would have been such an incredibly shitty movie, even compared to the CollegeHumor one above (which was awesome primarily because that one wasn't meant to be taken seriously, or at least not as seriously as a full theatrical release, anyway).
