The Simpsons Game demo hits XBLA photo

According to Major Nelson's blog (which lives and breathes on its own, and will someday take over the world) is reporting that a demo for Electronic Arts' The Simpsons Game has hit Xbox Live. This appears to be the same demo that hit the PlayStation Network last week, and weighs in at 442.71 MB.

Last week, I spent a bit of time with the PlayStation 3 demo, which gives you control of both Bart and the ever-so-lovable Homer. You can switch between the two on the fly, and you use each of their unique abilities to try to best the Lard Lad statue, which has come to life and is wreaking havok upon Springfield.

While I can't say I necessarily had fun (and I'm reserving judgment for after I've played more of the game), I was impressed by how well the game nailed the show's trademark humor. Even more impressive, was the fact that there seemed to be quite a bit of voice work packed into the demo; I rarely heard the same thing twice.

The Simpsons Game comes to the Xbox 360 October 30.

I tried the PS3 version, and thought it was pretty meh. I preferred playing the Bladestorm demo over this when they came out.

I played the PSN demo and I thought the game was pretty blah. Yes it looks lovely and just like the Simpsons but the game itself is boring, repetitive and motion sickness inducing.

played it, and the camera is really annoying. The AI of the boss you have to fight pays too much attention to you so its nearly impossible to get behind him and when you do and lock on with bart the camera gets even worse.

lame.

I've played it on PS3 and I think it's awesome. I mean the camera blows but the humor is there and that's all I expect out of my Simpson game. Also they have hidden Game Cliche's that seem like they could be fun to stumble upon.

Yeah, my biggest complaints for the PSN demo was the shitty camera and the fact that Bart "falls with style" rather than floats down. Took forever to get Lard Lad close enough to a building to actually land on his little flaps. Also, those Krusty dolls were really annoying. Needs greater enemy variety IMO. I know it's just a demo, but a demo is supposed to give you a taste of the real game. Despite Ken Brockman's epic narration, this demo left a bad taste in my mouth.

I want them to use this graphics engine and character models to remake the arcade game. That would be awesome-o.

I dont think a demo can really do justice to this game... it seems like each stage is so different that 1 stage cant give you a good feel for the whole game

Maybe now I'll get to play it since all 5 times I tried to install it on my PS3 it gave me errors. The PS Store sucks balls, big, dirty, stinky, hairy, pimpley balls.

The demo made me laugh quite a bit, but I wasn't the one controlling it, so I can't comment on how good it is. I'm more curious as to why it took a few more days to get this demo out on Live when PSN had it last weekend.

Good moments in the demo, it made me laugh, "take that lard crotch." Once you figue out lard lad it was fun, you have to attempt to hide from him and wait for him to pass near where you are, pop out, nail him, and float down to one of the doors. Took me a while at first, but once I got the hang of it its easily done in under 5 mins. Also after you get one of the doors he runs to the same places every time normally, so if you are having trouble with him in 1 spot but had better luck in the other, pop him, wait for him to reset then make your way over to the other spot.

And yea I'll admit the camera needs some work, hopefully they address that in the actual version, if they don't it'll hold it back but I'm still getting it.

I love the graphics and atmosphere, and hated lard lad. I'll probably rent it.

If it's online co op, or I can interest the missus in it, I might get it.

Else, despite the simpsons humour, there are too many good things coming out to worry about this game.

I'd say 90% of game demos are boring. On rare occasions though you get those awesome demos like Stranglehold and Bioshock had.

Oh yeah and the SKATE demo! I still haven't deleted that from my XBLA. I wanna buy that game!

Ehh, while it wasn't the abortion I thought it would be, it still wasn't that great.

I wouldn't buy it.

Goddammit I'm one of the biggest simpsons fans you'll ever meet but man the gameplay in this is just not fun at all. This is a shame because the 2d cutsene going into it looks amazing, the graphics look perfect for a game adaptation of the Simpsons.

This game wants to be an easy as pie 2d brawler, but they artificially lengthen the action with the old puzzle sequence boss. Going around trying to hit lard lad, you can't aim at the fucking guy because the camera stops when it's near a wall. I got past the first panel in his armo and just put the game down because I've got better things to do.

Simpsons hit and run was excellent, if any of you haven't played it, pick it up.

Actually this isn't on Xbox Live Arcade... It's just Xbox Live. :P

Plus the limit is 250 megs, the demo is half a gig.

Its like they took the engine from TMNT and made it look like the simpsons. The effects are pretty cool but it looks like shit playing at 1280x1024 but then I'm one of them crazy peoples who uses the settings WOAH. The controls were pretty wank. Jumping was hassle and stiff and Lard Lad could see you through walls. The camera didn't help and I got stuck on some stuff. Then Lard Lad was too far away from anyting high to land on his panels and he kept stomping me and lasering me because I got stuck on some shit. Trying to use homer to distract him was awful as well seeing as when you switch they just try and run towards the charact you're controlling. The lock on just locks onto random shit you can't even see.

The cuscene blew tremendously as well. It looked like it was done in flash with plenty of helpings of tween. Then once they were done they removed half the frames to get jerky poor imitation of the movie (Which had tween in it at least once. If you look at Apu in the intro). Still, as far as animation quality goes, 4/10.

I hardly see how shoving video game references makes them think gamers will like it.

It's pretty funny actually. The Simpsons arcade game was just the Turtles arcade game with the Simpsons in it and that was awesome but then so were the turtles games.

I'm too tired to write well.
