I don't know how I almost missed this! Atlus announced yesterday that Izuna 2: The Unemployed Ninja will be returning to the DS later this year. Izuna 2 is the sequel to the original game that came out last year. In Izuna, you played as a Ninja who was fired after her boss figured that Ninjas have become obsolete. Psh, whatever.

The sequel is looking to offer more content, a deeper combat system and a richer role-playing experience. There will also be a new tag team battling system that you can use with anyone in Izuna's party. Check out the debut trailer above and the first screens of the game in the gallery below. Izuna 2: The Unemployed Ninja should be out July 22 for the Nintendo DS.

Oh, and be sure to read the press release here for once, after the jump. It's filled with so much sexual innuendo that it made me hard while writing all of this up. Seriously.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ATLUS FIRES IZUNA, CLEARS HER SCHEDULE FOR IZUNA 2: THE UNEMPLOYED NINJA RETURNS ON NINTENDO DS

Romp Some Dungeons with the Cutest Ninja-for-Hire Around

IRVINE, California - April 16, 2008 - Atlus U.S.A., Inc. today announced Izuna 2: The Unemployed Ninja Returns for Nintendo DS(TM), starring everyone's favorite careless, jobless, and penniless female protagonist with a love for dungeon crawls. Combining zany characters and hilarious dialogue with hardcore dungeon RPG gameplay, Izuna 2 stands out from the crowd with its unique and memorable RPG experience. This sequel offers more game content, combat options, and RPG depth. Also, the lead character's a sexy, self-absorbed ninja.

Izuna 2: The Unemployed Ninja Returns is currently scheduled to release on July 22.

Key Features:
- Play hardcore with Izuna - Get in the action by combining down-and-dirty old-school dungeon RPG play with the cutest girl ninja ever, for a "stimulating" RPG experience.
- TAG team system - Take any two party members into a dungeon for a greater range of combat strategy. Combine power to unleash fierce TAG attacks.
- More Izuna than ever before - Get everything that made the original game a fan favorite, plus more! This bigger, better package includes more dungeons, items, enemies, characters, as well as a wacky new story, side quests, and TAG team system.

Izuna 2: The Unemployed Ninja Returns has been rated "T" for Teen with Mild Fantasy Violence, Mild Language, Suggestive Themes by the ESRB.

I was interested in the first one but passed it up, maybe I'll give it a second look.

Izuna 1 I was not a big fan of. IMHO, Shiren the Wanderer is vastly superior if you're looking for a roguelike on the DS.

I really wanted to try the first one, but never got around to it. Knowing Altus, It's already sold out though.

Also, the thumbnail for the second action shot looks like a chick with a cock.

These old school dungeon crawlers aren't really my cup of tea, or a piece of hot ninja ass for that matter.

A "stimulating" RPG experience? Does that mean it'll make me splooge all over myself? Doubt it.

Haha, I love this press release; its just so much fun to read. *whomever wrote this is very clever.. Ok I'm hooked.
Actually I have heard about the first game, but never played. I am a bit more curious what this sequel will be like.

*Izuna's design reminds me of that Vespa rider from an anime called "FLCL". Cute, sexy, and just filled with energy. Oh and more emphasis on the sexy, cute. Did I forget to mention crazy, and funny?

Oops. Hey its a lil box to help share whats on your mind. So I'm on the same boat. Whee. ^-^

Maybe I'm a damn fool, but I think games like this would be perfect for XBLA. Why aren't any of these old-school JRPG's available on the service?

If its anything like the first one, I'll complain about it relentlessly and play it for numerous hours on end.

In short, DO WANT.

I'm playing the first one now on a certain member's recommendation and if I don't finish it by this game's release I don't know what I'll do.
