Well, I'll be honest here, guys: I'm skeptical all the way on this one. Kombo.com claims that they got their hands on a pitch document that contained this concept art earlier in the year, and while I have no reason to doubt that site, Nintendo is remaining tight lipped, so there is nothing that confirms these are actual concept art images in any way. Still, here they are, and speculation was still free last time I checked.
Rumor of the game's development by Factor 5 has been floating around since mid-January. Personally, I'd really like to hear something solid on this soon, as this rumor is getting dangerously close to falling into the legendary "BioShock on PS3" category. Unfortunately, the world doesn't work according to my wants and needs, so until Nintendo or Factor 5 can give us a press release, we're left staring at this maybe concept art and hoping that Kid won't end up as an emo boy with wings.
[Update: Thanks to Sir Chad Concelmo, it seems that the folks at G4's The Feed might have something closer to confirmation on this game. Hmmm.]

Honestly... I'd prefer a Rogue Squadron, but with a new take on it--have it take place shortly before Revenge of the Sith with all those awesome starships and battles.
Okay, seriously, the trend of making things overly dramatic must end.
I hope I'm not wrong, because that would make me sad.

He's a kid. Stop trying to make it dramatic, it's in the damn name!
So the brawl art style would not be used should this rumor be true?

Not all of it. Some of those models border too close on "Prince of Persia" or "JRPG" for my tastes. But real or not, it's kind of cool.
However, I dug the Icarus-Vania high collar jacket a little.
It fits the whole KID Icarus name much better than any of the other designs which are either too manly or too dark. And frankly, i think the game Kid Icarus should maintain a much lighter feel... i'm fine with Nintendo doing something a bit more dark and serious, but i really don't think Kid Icarus should be one of the games they would make dark. a lighter tone feels more fitting
I don't know if it's that I'm hungup on the kid aspect so much as that's just the atmosphere of the game. Putting one of those hideous pits in a new game would be like modeling mario after one of the characters on the Supranos or something. At that point youd just be pasting a popular name onto a totally different gaming atmosphere - you might as well just make an entirely different game and not piss of the fans.
This makes no sense at all.
