The Rock talks about DOOM, wants a Black Ops movie photo

Hollywood actor and sometimes wrestling star Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has stated that he wouldn't be against starring in another videogame-based film, even though DOOM "didn't work out" as planned. He also added that he'd think a Black Ops movie would be badass.

"I thought we had an opportunity with DOOM," he admitted. "Didn't work out the way we wanted it to, creatively." He said that he'd do another videogame movie "if the right one came along."

The Rock believes that Call of Duty is ripe for film: "Black Ops -- that'd be bad ass. Let's make it happen. Let's do it. That and Black Swan 2."

This could work if they used live ammo during filming and had everyone demonstrate the health regen...oh wait.

I like how the default response by an actor who appeared in a shit movie is "it's not what I envisioned when I signed on." If the Rock wrote or directed the DOOM movie, I promise it would be much worse.

Unless he incorporated the peoples elbow.

@jrnx; don't feel bad for him. I'm sure he is doing well financially. As for his roles- its rather difficult to have a "pro" wrassler play a serious part

Fucking love the Rock. I'd watch anything if he was in it. Even an Uwe Boll movie.

The Rock was my favorite wrestler when I was watching WWF since 1999. I think I stopped watching in 2003. I wouldn't mind seeing him in a Blops movie.

i actually would definitely like to see The Rock in tights Black Swan 2. come on i know you want it guys.
and Doom 2 wasn't a bad movie - people take video game-based movies way too seriously. it was fun and enjoyable SF action movie. seriously guys what were you expecting out of movie based on Doom, a game with a story that could be written on a napkin and you still would have enough space for a Doom 2 storyline.

Nah, it was more like Resident Evil in Space.

Genetic Experiments, Special Tactics Team investigating, people turning into monsters and the team leader turns on his team at the end.

I thought the Doom movie was alright for what it was. It's not like you go into it expecting much, and it did have a couple interesting twists which made it a little better than a by-the-numbers action flick.

Not saying it's high art. It's not. But it was a great spectacle and anyone expecting much better is not all that bright.

The doom movie was.....a movie. Thats about it. It provoked no emotion, but i still found it watchable. As far as game to movie movies go, it was one of the best i have seen, even if it was generic as hell.

I think Rock completely trolled a lot of people with that quote. I dont think he's serious about it at all (thus the Black Swan 2 line).

And to be honest, I think Rock's a pretty good action movie actor (better than Stallone/Ah-nuld/Diesel/Statham) but he needs a new agent who gives him more movies like The Rundown.

I enjoyed Doom, Better than I expected TBH, though watching Tooth Fairy was painful, going the Hulk Hogan route there. Faster was decent though, if a little overdone recently with the "revenge" storyline.

Black Ops...eh, no thanks. The Black Ops script was okay at best, nothing outstanding.

gog,
true. before bashing a movie based on anything people should know the source material those movies are based on. Doom was pretty amazing movie considering pretty bad source material. same thing was with first Resident Evil movie - it was really good movie considering its source material at the time. Silent Hill, first Mortal Kombat and Tomb Raider movie were good video game-based movies. wanna see bad movie? go watch Tekken, Uwe Boll's "flicks" and see if you can stand watching it for more than 10 minutes.
as long as movie is fun to watch and enjoyable it is a good film based on video games. let's be honest here - we won't get The Dark Knight of video games cause there's not many titles with a plot that would allow it without any differences made by film makers themselves to the story of source material.

A Black Ops movie wouldn't make sense, because by the time it came out, we'd already be two or three more Call of Duty games down the line.

I actually liked the Doom movie. People complain becxause it wasn't 'real Doom', but there's two responses to that.
1) Okay, it's not Doom-Doom, it's just a film with the same name. Shut up and enjoy it.
Or 2) Consider that Doom didn't was hardly rich in plot anyway, accept that videogame movies have never been more than loosely based on the original material, shut up and enjoy it.

Or fail to enjoy it, because it's by no means an example of a great movie.

I just have an issue with people hating on it because its not a sprite-based faux-3D FPS with a soundtrack that badly mimicks popular metal tracks from the period.

Black Swan 2, where the girl didn't die because they made her half android, her new mission is to dance in the street while supporting a rebel group counter her mother that turned out into a general of a facist governement, proibiting girls to masturbate and to leave their room. The action scenes are most ballet with various kind of weapon at the same time, like a total spin with a chain gun that desintegrate everyone on 360º. Shut up The Rock, the idea COULD be nice, but how things EVER go don'
