What? YES! Ladies and gentlemen, sit down, take a deep breath, then drink in the sweeping grandeur. The ridiculously awesome, awesomely ridiculous CG cartoon show, ReBoot, which entertained the masses back in 1994, is getting a remake with a series of three feature-length films. For those of you too young or pathetic to know the camp glory of ReBoot, it focused on a fantasy world contained within a computer, its characters and locations taken from actual computing components. The show stood out for having legitimately great characters and storylines. Evil viruses Megabyte and Hexidecimal were actually believable, threatening villains to this young child and the writing was somewhat intelligent, even if dripping with deus ex machina.
Needless to say, the adventures of guardian Bob as he enters the computer's videogames to protect its Mainframe were among my childhood staples and I am very much going to be checking out what Rainmaker Animation does to update the old classic. Sadly, the suave and sophisticated voice behind the megalomaniacal Megabyte, Tony Jay, is no longer of this mortal realm and I fear his presence will not be replaced easily, but I hope someone does the role justice. Now that I've utterly geeked myself out, I shall now retire to play with my Hack & Slash action figures.
I wish I had Hack & Slash action figures.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
i'm gonna have to break out the old bootlegs i have now.
Anyway, I got into that show a little late. I was starting to dig it and suddenly it was pulled. I kind of missed it, but eventually forgot about it. But, I did like the one that parodied Ash from Evil Dead and Army of Darkness.
Hexidecimal is fucking amazing.
(sorry for the double post)

"OH NO THE GAMECUBE IS APPROACHING!"
i got excited when i first heard about them doing a new Reboot. Then i read the pitches for the new stuff and I was deeply saddened. You can read the the different pitches at the link I posted, they all suck.
Idk. either way, I can't wait to watch these episodes again!
Everything is alphanumeric!
Mike the TV.
I used to fucking hate that show.
i do remember though, that megabyte evolved until he was terabyte or something and everyone was like "ahhh noo"
Also, who are these RAINMAKER fools and what happened to the original, (proudly) Canadian creators of the show, Mainframe Entertainment? Makers of 'Beasties'/'Beast Wars'/'Beast Machines' as well. Oh, and Shadow Raiders! Man, that show rocked too. Please someone tell me they watched Shadow Raiders too. Or.. umm, it might have been called.. 'War Planets' in the states, maybe?
Anyway, I still have all that junk on tape, woohoo.
Oh god this is fucking awesome news, Reboot was one of my favorite shows as a kid
They aren't continuing the series they're "re-imagining" it, which sets off the RED ALURTS like crazy.
I wasn't completely sure, never having seen either, but I always associated 'Modern Major General' with 'Pirates of Penzance', and all the sites I double checked before posting agreed that my association was/is correct.
....Ahem. This is totally awesome news.
I still have dreams about AndrAIa.
Also, don't bother with Beast Wars II. I never watched it, but I didn't hear anything good about the series, and it had very little, if anything, to do with the story line of the above.
