Tipster BlindsideDork recently shared some interesting videos with us -- none of them could be considered anything approaching official, but since when did a video have to be legitimate to entertain?
The above video is supposedly taken from the aborted Game Boy Color port of the original Resident Evil. At the time of its cancellation, Capcom cited the port's poor quality as the reason for its abandonment. If this video is legitimate, it's not hard to see where they were coming from.
But that's not all Blindside gave us -- not by a long shot. After the jump, you'll see Chris Redfield's GBC experience, an RE-themed Beats of Rage mod, and a Game Boy Advance tech demo showing the system's ability to run Resident Evil 2.
Next up, the Chris Redfield GBC demo. Evidently, a day in the life of Chris Redfield involves a lot more walking through doors than does Jill's.
Next, the Beats of Rage mod Crisis Evil, which can be downloaded here, but you can evidently only play it with a Dreamcast. If you don't have one, sorry -- just enjoy Paint it Black.
Finally: a Game Boy Advance tech demo, showing off the GBA's ability to run PSX-era games like
Resident Evil 2. This isn't footage from an abandoned port, but rather the result of some independent coding whiz-kids who wanted to show what the Blueroses Engine could do. You may remember that the Blueroses Engine also
recreated the entire first area in Metal Gear Solid.
