Good news everyone! The Red Star, that cult PS2 shooter/brawler that sold three copies, has been given a second chance at success, this time as a downloadable portable offering. XS Games has announced that The Red Star will be hitting the PSP and iPhone sometime in Spring 2010. Hey, that's this year!
A PSP version of The Red Star has been on the cards since forever, and we'd pretty much given up on the idea of it being made flesh. Now with an appearance on both the PSP and iPhone, perhaps this classic title will have a chance at a little success. Just a little?
Either way, this is great news for fans of the game, and those who were never lucky enough to find a copy.

Nah, that asshole was already bitching that it's not on XBLA/PSN where he can have online co-op. THAT BOY IS NEVER HAPPY!
Although this sounds like a mess on iPhone and god knows I don't feel like digging through those boxes to find my PSP.
Any word on a 360 version? I'd love to get some achievements...

Although I'd certainly be down with Linde's idea of putting it on PSN or XBLA too. I've heard the game is kind of shmupy, so a bigger screen is easier on the eyes.
Still have the game, too. It's quite unique and a lot of fun, especially with two players, which makes this PSP/iPhone announcement a bit bittersweet.
I won't be buying it again on either no matter what extra goodies they add.
Now if it was on PSN... then I'd buy it day one.
Honestly I didn't realize the game was that hard to find, I still see it in bargain bins at EB Games for like $5 all the time.
Any idea if this has any new content? Cause that would be nice.
