The real Riddick sequel on the horizon ... if fans want it photo

The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is basically a sequel. Sure, the game has the entirety of Escape from Butcher Bay on the disc, but there is also a large amount of new content, aimed to immediately follow the events of Butcher Bay. While most of us would call it a sequel, Tigon Studios is afraid of that word. Their methodology is quite simple – Dark Athena is an episodic follow-up, the real sequel will be developed if fans want it.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Tigon Studios’ production head Ian Stevens said that “we’ve got a sequel in mind that’s a couple of years out if you guys want it, and you like this and you tell us you want more.” He went on to say that the sequel is “ambitious and ... definitely going to follow the precedent that we set with the first.”

Thinking about another Riddick game after this is more than exciting. I think the majority of Riddick fans were more than displeased after the first Chronicles took a dive in ticket sales and signaled an early end to the trilogy. Regardless of what happens with the movies, at least we may have a videogame to look forward to in the future.

Have Riddick join an underground racing club that lives on the edge and takes no prisoners, while tossing out random blurbs about his life ghosting random people on the streets.

i loved the hand-to-hand combat of the first game, and the length was great too. i kept thinking, okay, i'm at the end, then was only to find out later just the middle. great game, i look forward to the next.

I love Chronicles of Riddick, so I am glad to see that there's a possibility for it to continue. I'm going to be first in line to pick up Assault on Dark Athena next year, so needless to say the prospect of a third sequel excites me greatly. I drool every time I hear the words "saber claw."

This is great, does he still live his life a quarter mile at a time?

The original was one of the best xbox games, hands down. I was so pissed it was never made compatible with the 360, but this makes me happy.

I loved Butcher Bay on Xbox as well. I will definitely pick this one up, especially if it means we are more likely to see a sequel.

The original Riddick game was definitely one of the best on Xbox -- I'd love to see more titles after Dark Athena. I'm also willing to admit that the movie was one of a few sci-fi movies to actually entertain me over the past few years.
