The Podcastle episode 31: Hiccups photo

Our latest episode of The Podcastle mostly revolves around hiccups, since I was afflicted by a violent bout of them partway through the recording of the show. Wardrox and Atheistium laugh at my torment, but fear not, fretful listeners, I get my sweet vengeance at the very end.

This week we discuss how Far Cry 2 is blatantly not at good as Wardrox said it was, the school shooting in Germany and the racism of The Telegraph. We also find time to laugh at Keith "I'm really quite a corrupt prat" Vaz, and chat about OnLive.

As always, you can download or stream us at our usual Podcastle page, or be a trendy git and do whatever it is you people do on iTunes.

Jesus, no wonder that Vaz fellow feels the need to rail on games.

He obviously has never had himself some pussy.

Well you can't say Far Cry 2 is only sort of good with a bit of glitches and stuff. That's the point of PR.

Good episode, me and gibbo had a cheeky download before the post was made.

Jim:

Breath in as far as you can, until it feels like your lungs are going to burst. Hold it for 10 seconds.

Repeat for breathing out.

All the while trying to get the tips of your two index fingers as close together as you can without them actually touching.

Ok, the best hiccup remedy ever: breathe normally. Honestly, I've never had hiccups for more than a minute. Just take a second, focus on breathing calmly through your nose. That's it. I don't know much about the anatomy of it, but as I understand it its just a few muscles (diaphram) being out of sync with the rest of your breathing muscles. Holding your breath doesn't really work, you can still feel the muscle spazzing out while you hold it in.

I look foward to listening to this when I get back home. I forgot to sync my mp3 player this morning :( woe is me. Maybe I'll listen to it for dinner.

Watching Charlie Brookers Newswipe last night, there was a speech by a pyschiatrist saying to prevent further shootings, they should be contained to local news, and made as boring as possible in other news around the world. There should also be no stating of death tolls. They should also never show the killers face all over TV.

The news does all of this.

Because they do this, people are more likely to copycat after a shooting spree. NEWS REPORTERS = MURDERERS, CONFIRMED

It makes me a little sad to say this, but you're right. The current Germany really is full of nazis. I guess our theme is "back to the roots".

Fuck Germany.

@ the Germany topic:

The "winners" of the whole situation in Germany are Austrian game retailers who sell games, which are banned in Germany, to German gamers. Lol?

I lol'd hard at the beeping.

I'm tempted to find some insults in the Podcastle, that beep, and the footage from the Simpsons with that shocker machine.
