Yes folks, it's that time -- the eagerly anticipated controversial episode of The Podcastle has arrived, delivered at your feet as a cat might deliver a mangled bird with its jugular torn open. This episode runs considerably longer than usual (we're talking RetroforceGO length, kids) but this is probably my favorite show we've done yet, so I hope you enjoy it.
Now, this IS the controversial episode, and a lot of it is tongue-in-cheek. We will be talking about a variety of games in unflattering ways, games you might love very much. Similarly ... certain sensitive non-game topics may come up as well for some reason. Basically, I'm just issuing a cover-all disclaimer here: This podcast may/will offend you! I'm not sure of the woman's name, but to her: the whole African American History month thing started over here in 1926, prior to us getting any semblance of equal rights. It's celebrated now in remembrance and out of respect for those people that paved the way for the not perfect, but much better, world we live in today. It also forces schools over here to discuss these issues in the classroom for 28 eight days before turning our attention back to all the white history makers we learn about during the rest of the school year. I know they have a Black history month across the pond, but I'm sure how similar they are.
To that other guy (sorry, I really suck with names): thank you for bringing a little bit of balance, understanding and historical context to that part of the 'cast.
I know this is probably too long already, but my .02 as a "black gamer" is that I wasn't at all offended by the trailer, but I can understand where a lot of people would be. The African people that Chris was running from/killing in the first trailer were infected with something similar to Las Plagas from RE4, making them appear a lot less like zombies and more like a horde of mad savages. For many black people, these images are a reminder of a lot of the racist propaganda and stereotypes that still exists today.
Those same issues could make for a really interesting subtext to the plot if handled properly, but then again it's Capcom, so I think it's for the best they just went and switched it up.

One thing I like about the Podcastle is on issues such as these, we can have a debate, and a fairly balanced one at that. By balanced I just mean 2 sides.
