We approach the moment none of you have been waiting for -- it's almost time for another Podcastle. Your usual team of Jim Sterling, Wardrox and Atheistium will be joined by community member Ugly Phil to discuss the latest news, views and shoes from the other side of the pond.
We have a lot to discuss this week, thanks to the fact that all of us were actually quite busy. Atheistium played Alone in the Dark, Wardrox and I went and reviewed GRiD based on one afternoon's play, and I went to the Londom MCM Expo where I got to feel like a celebrity for a bit. We'll be talking about our trials, tribulations and travels on this episode.
As ever, your questions, comments and swearwords are more than welcome. We'll be recording tomorrow at 18:00 or 20:00 GMT depending on what time Atheistium is done selling Manhunt and GTA IV to children. Fill our comment box with love.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I'm currently addicted to EVE online and it's forcing me to neglect my other gaming duties; Ranting, moaning and hyping.
PS. I'll fill your dirty comment box with juicy man love anytime you want Jim!
Oh wait, wrong show.
What is your earliest gaming memories?
If it doesn't drag up any opressed memories that is.
My trip to the UK sparked this interest as I never went to the club to find out :(
they give you 'clean money' like paper tokens.
When games are localized for England, do they add in British lingo in an attempt to authenticate the experience for you? If they do, are they sucsseful and you feel like your playing a game populated by fellow Brits, or do they fail miserably and end up making you feel like your playing a game populated by Americans doing bad impressions that they learned from a Sunday morning cartoon? I know in Advance Wars: Days of Ruin that they tried to reigonalize it by adding the word " bollocks" into every sentence at least twice; creating lines like: "That's bollicking bollocks Greyfield!"
What does Lauren do while alone in the dark???
Ok a cereal question; Even though that Europe has been screwed over and over and over again by most companies that is related to gaming, what about our fellows Aussies? They get the games later than anyone, they have to pay the double for their games and they get less games, plus censored. Thoughts of why is this problem or why they never bitch about it?
Good Sir could you, in few simple words, tell us how's the English football team doing 12 days before EURO? :]
GTA did make it to london in the expansion packs.
Also I thought about the striper problem and came up with the avertising phrase 'put the penny in the slot'
Let's say someone wanted to move from Canada to the UK. Where would you recommend living? I don't like rural areas, but I think London would be too stressful and stabby... at this point I am thinking either Bristol, East Anglia, Manchester, Southampton... I have no idea, just not Newcastle and ESPECIALLY not Sunderland. Har har har.
(there's a 12-month work visa that commonwealthers can get ot live in the UK for a year, so I was thinknig of checking it out... not permanently, mind.)
Oh my, not Bristol anyway.
Depends on what exactly you were planning on doing while over here really
snotrocket: the general idea is to avoid the Spearmint Rhino-esque clubs and find a nice high-class establishment where the girls bring around a pint glass into which you are expected to flick 20p.
Brilliam: I lived in Southampton last year, it's full of students and very windy. There's quite a lot of bars and clubs but all lacking any soul.
mmm hotpot
What did you think about the UEFA Champions League Final?
Also what do you all think is the best Football VG series overall? FIFA? Winning Eleven? Mega Man Soccer?
Ura
For Jim:
For Atheistium:
For Wardrox:
Is GTA IV being ported to the PC, or is that a lazy question that I could easily find an answer to on the rest of the net?
there's no date yet I think but since GTA 1-3, VC & SA were on PC I'm going to say there's the slightest chance of it.
Yes, you're lazy.
No Sensible Soccer? For Shame. ;p
Havn't been on here mcuh this week, been silly busy. Noticed that everyones names are still in red but less SHOUTY.
This does bring something up though.
Do you think the majority of the anti-games lobby tells blatant lies because they have no idea what they're talking about, or because they feel the need to bolster their argument, and they assume they won't be challenged?
Rev recently mentioned on another podcast that Jim has been thinking/talking about the use of nanomachines in the future. What are everyones thoughts on using technology to help immerse you in an experience via manipulation at the biochemical level? What about the use of drugs to draw you further into a game?
Also I hear that Wardrox is HUGE in Japan. Probably can't walk down the street without getting mugged by massive crowds of schoolgirls looking for a ride on the Happydrox express.
On a somewhat related note Jim, which did you find more inappropriate: Mei Ling's ancient Chinese proverbs or Para-medic asking Snake if he had seen various movies?
Maybe its just me, having been spoiled by GOOD writing in video games for so long, I'm relatively disappointed by Rockstars laughable attempt at a well constructed narrative.
Whatever.
