When my great aunt babbage died, she left me an ancient medieval castle in her will. As an Englishman, I already had a castle, but this one was bigger and also had a podcast recording studio in it. With that flimsy premise in mind, I invited beloved community member Atheistium and despised community orc Wardrox to my new abode, that we might record European podcasts for Destructoid.
The Podcastle will be a little different from your weekly shot of Retroforce GO! or Podtoid (when the latter relaunches). For one, we will all be sounding funny because we're the dirty English. The current plan is also to be less frequent, something we do every few weeks or so, since Dtoid already has two awesome regular podcasts. Think of Podcastle as the monocle-wearing garnish on an already sumptuous podcast banquet.
This is also something recorded with the European Destructoid fans in mind. Niero agrees that we could always do more for the European readers and this is a little way of doing so. As shows go on, we shall be opening up guest spots for anyone on the Destructoid community to join in, but bear in mind, the accents could kill you. Although Euro-centric in its intentions, everyone is encouraged to listen, because we really like attention.
This week, your marmalade trio shall be discussing the recently passed London Games Festival, as well as providing our English insight into the way the "big three" companies treat the European market. If there is anything on those two subjects you'd like us to address or add to, please use the comment box provided below and we will mention you be NAME (oh wow) if we like what you have to say. You can expect to see (or rather, hear) The Podcastle by the weekend. Ciao!
hairs on a bobbin ol camp, hairs on a bobbin...
And if so, will we ever get anything worth our shillings on the tv section of Marketplace. Surely if MS really cared/wanted they could have organised some distribution deals by now.
We dance when e're we're able
We do routines and chorus scenes
With footwork impecc-able
We dine well here in Camelot
We eat ham and jam and spam alot
That is the only thing that goes through my head when I think podcastle.
I would like to hear some nintendo release date bashing please.
Here’s my question: You and atheistium have expressed wishes (or outright plans) to eventually pack up your belongings and leave the mother country for its greatest offspring: the good ol’ US of A. I’m curious as to the reasons behind this — if they’re personal and you’d rather not discuss them, that’s fine, of course. I’m also wondering if this is a trend among UK residents that you’ve observed/followed, or if it’s just a coincidence that two Dtoiders may eventually call America “home”.
*waves*
I kid, I kid. See you next tuesday on the podcastle sterling!
Jim, our country's lucky to have you.
Ain't nobody says you have to listen to it, now.
The other podcastle is a soon to be released fantasy short story podcast similar to its long founded brethren EscapePod (sci-fi) http://escapepod.org/ and PsudoPod (horror)
while neither of you has actually posted an episode i imagine a battle for the name might ensue
Alternate Joke: So I assume you'll have caught up to Podtoid within a few months?
Alternate Alternate Joke: Podtoid is more inconsistent than the unity of the Democratic Party.
Wasn't that where the Poddington Peas lived?
Also, this is a great idea.
Theres a serious lack of decent Brit/Euro based gaming podcasts so this is a great idea and I'm really looking forward to it.
It'll be nice to listen to a podcast where 8bit history doesn't begin and end with the NES ;)
Spiffing!
Bad thing: Jim is just going to rant and be nasty over it. Booooo. :P
Hopefully I can get myself a spot on the show when Jim starts legging it to the USA.
