The PC version of Braid delayed until April 10 photo

The PC version of Braid has been delayed until April 10. According to the official Braid blog, the delay is the result of having to fix “problems that came up in testing with various versions of Windows.”

Rest easy. It seems like team-Braid (Jonathan Blow) is committed to making it work on the yucky platform: “I know folks have been waiting a long time for the PC version and it’s not so great to have to wait an extra 10 days, but it’s only so that I can try to ship you guys a version that works well (which frankly is impossible in Windows, but the best I can do is make it work for most people most of the time).”

In other Braid PC news, the blog also boasts that a music-based “surprise” is coming. Wonder what it could be?

The thought of an even remotely possible Braid Modding Community frightens me

Don't games get designed ON a PC?

Is this more like reality? --->http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gwlE1aASc4g

This makes me sad, I'm one of those who still have yet to play this and I was really looking forward to playing it this week. Oh well, I guess it's only 10 days.

Impossible in Windows? Wow. That's the dumbest shit I've ever heard.

This game looks alright. I don't get why everyone has such a boner for indie developers though (who probably where scarfs indoors ;)).

A bad workman blames his tools?

Well, this workman can at least make cool things, so awesome.

@EDS, I think he's saying that making one version that works perfectly on all current versions of Windows (Windows XP HOME - Vista Ultimate) is impossible. Thus: "the best I can do is make it work for most people most of the time."

It's not impossible, but it's most likely not feasible for him.

I love how a bunch of ignorant people who know absolutely nothing about game development have chosen to criticize someone who has developed an extremely successful multi-platform game.

I'm sure you know more about it than Jonathan Blow does! Right EternalDeathSlayer? PhazonYoshi what's your experience with cross-platform game development? Blaming his tools? No, just making an honest and informed acknowledgement of developing a game for Windows versus platforms with identical hardware and software.

-PL-, he was obviously referring to getting it to work well on *all* PCs. But you knew that and chose to make an idiotic comment regardless. Why did you do that? Did you want to appear stupid?

Here's the thing, guy--It is possible. Stop being so butthurt. Also, I'm a programmer. Maybe not a game developer, but I'm not entirely ignorant. Blindly claiming that people are ignorant and know nothing about game development is, well... ignorant.

I probably won't buy it again on PC, but I would totally buy it if it came to the iPhone. Team-Braid (lol) could probably cook up some crazy stuff to incorporate the tapping and tilting capabilities.

Considering the game was made for PC originally, it's laughable that it's taken this long. I'm long past giving a shit at this point.

lol "...make it work for most people, most of the time". Sounds like he took lessons from Bethesda on making PC games. I bought Braid on LIVE so I won't be paying for it again anyway.

This guys attitude really stinks. He initially was talking about how he wouldn't see a profit from the game despite its higher than average price, then decided it was nicely profitable AND wanted to charge more for a late port of it even though he doesn't care about the money...

Oh and Brad, what's so 'yucky' about the PC as a gaming platform? Many developers get along with it perfectly fine. Those who don't do so habitually and everyone knows what to expect from them. I like coming here for news on console stuff and the C-Blogs but DToid is the last place I go for PC news and this is one of the reasons why.
