The next Amnesia game might be set in...China?! photo

And let me tell you, that's a long way from the forests of Prussia, where Amnesia: The Dark Descent takes place. Frictional Games is teasing their next game with a cryptic image on this site, hidden behind an Amnesia logo. Clicking the picture takes you to a Google Maps page for China.

What does it mean?! Does the Amnesia guy get more amnesia and end up on a boat to terrifying adventures in the far east? Either way, I really liked the first one, so more of that will be welcome.

Frictional teases next Amnesia [Rock Paper Shotgun]

I dont know, I never got around to completing the first one, it was too slow. It was quite successful in putting me off to sleep each time I tried playing it.

I want to know if it's a direct sequel, a spiritual sequel, a in-name-only sequel or a prequel. Kind of hoping that only gameplay remains and the story is completely new.

Loved the first game, great mix of scares and puzzles. Need to play their Penumbra game series.

@orcist

Is it cold all the time with no soul? I've always been curious about that.

@tobii

I couldn't agree more. I'd like it if Daniels story were a separate game altogether from this one.

I own Amensia and have never played it. After dealing with the fiddly controls of Penumbra, I just don't think I could get around to dealing with having to actually hide from stuff using them in this game.

Ooh this could be interesting. I hope they take inspiration from eastern horror movies.

alright lets just hope they can actually find a way to make it more frightening, the first was kinda weak for most of the time.

I picked up the retail version of Amnesia, amd I loved every second of it. If they keep anything new DRM-free, I'll be all over it.

@Wedge:
I didn't find Amnesia's controls clunky. Haven't played Penumbra yet so I can't compare really.

My issue with Penumbra wasn't finicky controls, but some weird graphical glitch that made most of the textures appear in a florescent rainbow color. Kind of difficult to maintain the tension when it looks like you're running around in Care-a-lot.

They better put some guns in this game!!! Or NO BUY! First one was LAME! Yeah a flamethrower would make since if it's in China! Maybe dragons too. Or dragons with shotguns that come out the dark and you gotta blaze them fools.

Resident Evil 6 and now the new Amnesia game? Looks like China might be the new Eastern Europe

I thought the first Amnesia's controls were actually very immersive. I wish you opened doors like that in more PC games.

(SPOILER ALERT)

Actually Daniel (you character in the first Amnesia game) Dies at the end after successfully defeating alexander of brenenburg. the end is you walking along in some other dimension presumably the afterlife. Unless Agrippa (one of the men who help you get to this afterlife) decides to relocate you so the shadow can no longer follow you. So really it could be you are moved to get away from the shadow, or you are a new person entirely possibly one who is also being followed by the shadow.
