Remedy were smart enough to keep the IP rights and they can find someone else to publish it, you know, after Microsoft did such a sterling job with the promotion. Got to love those last minute changes of heart.

Seriously, I do enjoy the fact that one of the few retail exclusives that the 360 gets, happens to be the best suspenseful-thriller to ever come out, but I would really rather more people get the chance to play this game. Alan Wake is too good not to be played.

lol at people who think it will be released on pc or ps3? Alan Wake as an IP is owned by Microsoft. moreover they're publisher of all Alan Wake games and merchandise so they're calling the shots here.

Great - if entirely baffling - news. More Wake is good, even if it is just a PC port.
Remedy, if you're reading this - if this is new content (not a port) and is being released via retail, releasing this in Fall 2011 would be commercial suicide. Don't risk it, it will crash and burn. Give your game the space and time it deserves. Good luck whatever you do.

@sofik88: Uh, no, Remedy owns the IP, Microsoft only has the publishing rights to the first Alan Wake.
So prequel, but I kinda doubt that. I suppose it is just a new game in the Alan Wake world, but based on a NEW character. So they wouldn't name it "Alan Wake 2" if Alan Wake isn't even in it.

It's gonna be a downloadable game why do you think Remedy is all like "digital distrubtion won't screw new IP's over, so everyone needs to do it" which is true but would suck for people who don't have online connections and play games with just single player, I do know a few people before bashing me. It still alienates a small portion of people who'd probably buy it since it is a single player experience. Even if multiplayer was thrown in it'd feel like a tack on like Bioshock 2.
Enough ranting I do want them too succeed with this franchise since it's awesome after the first bit of DLC and the first game, but I want them to realize that digital distribution isn't the be it all, end it all of the situation. Especially with Activision still out there stalking the shadows. Waiting for the chance to bring Tony Hawk to selling millions of dollars same with CoD.

I need more Alan Wake, and I realllllllly hope its a prequel (for some reason). Still my favorite DLC packs too, I got quite obsessed swith it all when it was first released. Really really good game.

Alan Wake - MS completely funded the game securing publishing rights to entire IP(so it's like with Insomniac Games/Sony situation) and Remedy is and will be independent company. the only way Remedy would publish future Alan Wake games on other platforms is if MS would flatout refuse publising them and you still wouldn't see ports of AW games already published by MS.

@ everyone, I don't alan wake is owned by Microsoft anymore, they just owned the first one and unless they renewed it to keep it only on xbox like gears then it will probably be xbox only but since it really didnt sell to xbox's standards then it probably wont get picked up again but Xbox so there's a small chance it goes to other platforms and as much as i hate sony i hope it goes to playstation because Alan Wake is a great game and everyone should play it plus Remedy needs money so they make Alan Wake 2!
