The Mushroom Kingdom is coming to life for New SMB Wii photo

Nintendo is encouraging any and all fans to celebrate the launch of New Super Mario Bros. Wii, and it's shaping up to be one helluva neat shindig.

On November 14, from 3:00 - 7:00 PM, you'll have the chance to see a real-life Mushroom Kingdom at the Nintendo World store, which is located in New York at the Rockefeller Plaza in case you forgot.

Game stations, people dressed up as characters, trivia challenges, prize giveaways, a New SMB Wii tournament ... yep, this sounds like a game launch all right. Best of all, there's going to be some sort of Super Mario Bros. museum with "memorabilia pulled from Nintendo's archives." Now I'm intrigued.

The game of course hits store shelves the next day. Anyone else planning on getting this game for the whole family, and not just yourself?

If I had a Wii, I would definitely get it.

Sad thing is, as fondly as I remember pretty much every Mario game, I'm pretty bored with the regular side-scrolling format with little, ultimately meaningless updates.

I'll still play them, but they're more of a 15-20 minute diversion now than anything.

That sounds like a pretty cool event. I'll definitely be getting the game, it looks like so much fun.

God, why the hell did I move out of New York again? I could have been in the damn Mushroom Kingdom!

@ Nitex,

This isn't a downloadable title, unless you're planning to pirate it, in which case, please ignore my comment.

It's almost hard to believe that there hasn't been a 2D Mario platformer on a home console since the SNES. Not only that, but there hasn't been 3 Mario titles offered on a home console since the NES.

I can't wait to get this game.

While I'll definitely play with family when they're over, this is definitely a me game. I've been itching to play it for a while.

As for the Nintendo World store, I was actually disappointed by it when I was in New York this past summer. They did sell cheap hats that actually fit my giant head, so that was cool, but I built it up to be this great thing in my mind, and it wasn't.

Pre-ordered and paid for. Like ZombiePlatypus said, this game is more for me.

@ DinnertimeNinja,

That sucks for you. I've been gaming since before there were any 2d side scrollers, and I still love em' to this day. Mario in particular has always been top notch. I guess it's just not l33t enough for some people.

This game is going to kick all sorts of ass. I'll definately be buying this for myself, but will ALLOW friends and family to play also.

This game can not come out soon enough!
I will be playing this from start to finish and will search out every coin, secret and super skill time and time again! Just like every side scrolling Mario title before it! The replay value will be nothing short of amazing.
Also, Koopa Kids! =`)

I've been waiting for this game since the 90's. NSMB DS just didn't do it for me, but this looks to be so much better. Can't wait for tomorrow (fuck yeah, AU gets something early for once.)

I will probably be picking this up. I'm excited to dust off my Wii and get some hours in. Actually, I'll be using a friend's system...mine needs to be repaired

We have game night every Tuesday with some of my 20 something friends. We're a little tapped out on Kart and Smash, and this crowd is anti 360. They are excited for this, so I can't wait for the 4 player co-op.
