The Megas announce Megatainment, a Mega Man 1 tribute photo

The Megas are a kickass band that have one focus in life only -- to pay tribute to the awesome that is the Mega Man series. I saw them live back when I lived in Los Angeles, and I can testify that they have the power to rock your face off (in a good way, that is).

These guys have just announced a new album as a part of a collaboration with Entertainment System called Megatainment, which you can actually preview a track from over at their Facebook page. If you dig it, you can grab the EP for $5 from their store (both digital and hard copies are available). The Megs are also currently touring, playing at Otto's Shrunken Head in New York tonight and then going on to Pittsburgh, Ohio and Michigan later this week.

If you're in the area and in the mood for some rockin' game music, be sure to stop by and check them out.

Saw them in Baltimore WITH the Protomen actually last year at 32 Bit Gen (currently kicking myself for missing 64 Bit Gen, but that's another story). They are indeed most awesome.

@Aresef They put on a fantastic show at 64 Bit Gen. They're my favorite act at that show (though I didn't stay for Entertainment System or Protomen because I ODed on metal for the night).

I saw these guys at GameUnicon this past weekend. They did bring the ability to, as you said, rock my face off. I love their merch too. I bought an awesome looking mega bandanda.

Been there, saw them, got the EP. These guys are terrific, and I'm immensely looking forward to their upcoming Mega Man 3 album. If you don't already have Get Equipped, then buy it already!

Not to be the party pooper, but can't these guys get in trouble with Capcom for charging for this stuff?

Read "Megas" as a singular noun...

Dear god, those vocals are awful. I adore the instrumentation, but for Mega Man narrative in music, I'm totally sticking with The Protomen (new album out soon).

Not a big fan of video game bands who do not use any synthesizers or other digitalized sounds. Also, I agree with Sentry's comment re: vocals. In fact, vocals in any video game music usually don't work to well. Anamanaguchi still win my vote. I always appreciate hearing about new bands, though.

@TriggerRedd

Well... maybe... unless of course they were reccomended and endorsed by Capcom on their official blog.

Oh, wait! They totally were!

I saw the Megas play live last weekend in marlboro, ma. They put on a hell of show. If you ever have the opportunity to see them live, by all means, take it.
