How you'll be creating a family in Shelter 2

Shelter 2 is starring a Lynx family, and today the developers have shared how much more personal the creatures will be this time around.

"We wanted to continue to build features around the concept of family, besides just protecting your cubs. And the idea of a bloodline that can be continued and evolved just fits the world of Shelter perfectly,” Anders Westin, CEO of Might and Delight, stated.

When you first begin Shelter 2, players will create the first name in a family tree. From there the momma Lynx will birth a litter of cubs that players will also get to name. Those cubs will then become playable after the story is beaten, so long as they survive that is.

Westin added that "there´s something charming about raising your cubs and then being able to play through the game again with your favorite cub as the main character." Cubs will all be uniquely colored too, and that color continues on in the next family line.

Expect Shelter 2 fall 2014 through Steam and GOG.com.

Shelter 2 is putting you higher up on its gorgeous food chain. The first game had you playing as a badger and it seems like no one wants to be a badger. So for the sequel you are a lynx, just trying to raise your family--something we can all relate to.  Oh, and it's out in February. Hooray.
Badgers were cute in Shelter, but I prefer the lynxes of Shelter 2 -- still adorable and higher up on the food chain. This is a survival game in which you begin as a pregnant lynx, a first for the medium, I'm sure. You'll ma...
I liked Shelter as an out-there concept, but as a game, it just couldn't hold my attention. Might and Delight is ditching badgers for its "spiritual sequel," which instead revolves around a lynx mother attempting to raise he...
