I'm finally playing a game in Early Access (Invisible Inc., which is incredible; expect a longer impressions piece soon) and come September 22 I might be playing another as The Long Dark hits Steam.
I've been waiting on this gorgeous, wintry survival-sim for a while, though I may hold off still, only because The Long Dark is launching on Early Access with its survival sandbox, but not with its eerie story content.
You can pre-order the game ($20) from its site to get in on the Early Access version, which will turn into the full version upon release. For $25 ("Survivor's Edition"), you get an extra key for the game. Perfect for gifting or making suspicious internet friends with whom to go splitsies with. You can each get the game for $12.50, with enough trust. Will they pony up the cash? Will they send a code? Will they skin me in my sleep and steal the half eaten pack of Mentos I found in a garbage can and plan to sustain myself on for the next week?
