The Light of the Darkness is a work-in-progress Metroidvania indie game project led by Brazilian Fernando Rabello. Although already in development for some time, there isn't a launch date yet defined, partly due to the craftsmanship involved and partly due to insufficient funding to get the game ready.

Artistically speaking, the game's visuals are pretty good! Actually, really awesome at times. They strike me as something like Actraiser meets Odin Sphere. But despite the great graphics there are some camera movement and animation issues, apart from some other minor technical problems from what can be seen on the trailer.

As soon as a playable version is available a more complete analysis can be made. But, just by its looks, The Light of the Darkness has already caught my attention. Something gamewise to remember Brazil other than Blanka!

If you liked the game enough to want to play it, or even if you just want to help the project come to life, you can support the game through the Kickstarter.

So am I the only one who can think of nothing but Epic Meal Time when listening to this music...? Apart from that, not really digging the artstyle. Probably not my kinda game.

The art style is not my style at all, which is great cause it will be awesome to have it grow on me. Looks interesting, though the few bits of battling we got seemed somewhat lacking to me.

God I hate the term "metroidvania".

I guess I only felt a almost annoyed by Recoil's comment because I'm brazilian as well...

But he's right actually, the name is a bit silly.

The game itself looks like a crappy flash game, however metroidvania games are always fun shit.

It reminded me of Aquaria, so I guess this is good

As one of the bigger Odin Sphere fans around, I have to say this looks really lovely. I would like to see a more diverse color palette, but maybe we just haven't seen enough of the full game yet. This looks like it could be incredibly tasty. I'll gladly keep an eye on this as it develops.

The art and animation looks terrible, like some crap I'd find on Deviant art.

@ScrappyDoo You are incorrect. It looks amazing like things you would find on Deviant Art.

Looks decent. I think it could benefit from having the camera a bit further out though. Lots of places in the trailer had completely blind jumping which I'm not a fan of.

Looks like something I could play on Newgrounds. Doesn't look worth more than a hey penny.
