The Legendary Starfy is cute, we have pics to prove it photo

That legendary Starfy is petty damn legendary, but he's never officially been out of Japan. That's about to change with this game, the fifth in the series and the first to have a North American release. Whether or not we should be pleased about that, I'm unsure right now. I do know that Starfy is one adorable echinoderm.

According to the world's shorted press release, The Legendary Starfy is "a spectacular undersea adventure," where players "swoop into enemies like a shooting star, glide over bottomless chasms and transform into powerful creatures to help a mysterious, bunny-eared visitor find his lost memory." So, the premise is a rip-off of Hellraiser, basically.

The Legendary Starfy is due out on June 8th. Check out the sickeningly cute screenshots in the meantime, and hit the jump for its tiny, tiny press release.

I loved this game! I played it in Japan last year, so much fun. It's nice to have a platformer that's just fun to play, even if I couldn't understand what the hell was going on.

I find strange that Nintendo has taken so much time to bring the series out of Japan, did they simply think they weren't going to sell or what?

I imported Stafy 3 for the GBA out of curiosity. Its a good game but there's way too much text to sift through. When I want to get to some platforming, some character always starts talking at me like theres no tomorrow..its annoying to be fed a story I cant even understand when all I want is to play a game..

Does anyone think I'd like this if I'm not a huge Kirby fan? I like Kirby himself (and I enjoy the spinoffs like Canvas Curse and Dream Course) but the traditional platformers have always been a bit boring and easy for me. And, well, this kinda looks like a Kirby game.
