Just when you think you've seen it all, some mad genius from Japan proves you utterly wrong and exposes the naivety of your pure world view. Root vegetables may be many things -- healthy, versatile and tasty, but one thing I never expected them to be was musical. That is, before Heita3 here showed the world how he can turn a humble carrot into his very own ocarina.

It's not just Zelda, nor indeed, merely carrots. Go check out the man's Youtube page for all kinds of music played on all kinds of vegetation. Apples, mushrooms, cabbages, this guy's out of his mind. Prepare to be amused for up to three minutes!

I was afraid at first this was about the musical fruit. Musical vegetables are cool.

Must resist urge to carve my own ...

I was amused. Then I got hungry. Now I am angry that I cannot eat the carrot.

I don't think this guy's *quite* as talented as some people think. If you watch his broccoli video you can clearly see some orange thing shoved up into it. I think he basically just hollows-out the produce of choice; puts in the orange dealy (which, I'm assuming, is a small ocarina); and finds the holes of the ocarina through the produce and carves them out. Thus, he gives you the illusion that the produce is the instrument when, in fact, it's merely a vessel.

dean, I'd agree with you but that carrot is way too out of tune to actually be a flute in a vegetable suit.

The radish slide whistle he has is awesome too. I'd love to see a full wind instrument orchestra, played with all of his vegetable creations.

It must be kind of demoralizing to spend the time making that only to have it rot after a week.

Th... this guy can do more with a carrot than I ever could with my forty-dollar Ocarina of Time lookalike. Please excuse me while I drown the tears of a shattered childhood in cheap rum.
