The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3DS out June 19 photo

Nintendo has just announced that The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D will be given a release date of June 19 in the United States.

One of the 3DS' most anticipated titles, Ocarina 3D is essentially a remake of the N64 classic, featuring updated visuals, and several gameplay enhancements thanks to the touch screen. It will also feature the Master Quest version of the game, which is kind of awesome.

So there ya go, release date at last. Who's getting it?

Welp, guess I'm buying a 3DS soon. It feels weird for Nintendo to announce a release date for a Zelda game two months before it comes out, even if it is a remake.

Day one, motherfucker.

Also Jim, I'm pretty sure the Water Temple isn't being reworked... I think that misunderstanding came from when the guy said the Water Temple would be less frustrating thanks to having the Iron Boots on the touch screen or something. Just sayin'. I could be wrong though. Disregard this.

But fuck, I want this game so bad. Hopefully Australia doesn't have to wait too long ._.

So far, the only reason i see for getting a 3DS, so me getting a 3DS just got an "after" date

I would pick it up if.... I was buying a 3DS, but I do not see myself picking up a 3DS anytime soon. Well if more awesome titles get announced for this system, maybe one day.

Are people that desperate to justify their DS+++ purchase that they are excited about a 13 year old remake? It's not like you haven't been able to play this on your N64, or Gamecube, or Wii.

But, it's in 3D. So, yeah.

Well if there is a good pack-in deal with the 3DS, I will seriously consider it. Probably not though honestly. I might pull out one of my GameCube port copies or find a new N64 though. Both options would be much cheaper.

Now if I got paid to play games on the other hand...

I am seriously interested in at least trying it though.

syvergy: They've actually mentioned that there will be new content in the port, which is what has me excited. Even if they didn't though it's Ocarina of Time, one of the greatest games ever made. I'm excited to be able to experience the game in a new way, even if it's as small a difference as better graphics and sounds.

@Syvergy - Already have several other games U want along with this to justify my purchase of a 3DS. Pretty sure I have plenty to keep my occupied until then. SSFIV, Samurai Warriors and Ghost Shadow Wars aren't leaving me short of things to do.

Probably going to skip it due to playing Windwaker right now. Might be too much Zelda for me this year. Especially if skyward sword drops this year.

From the screenshots of the game, it look like the majority of the 3D models have been kept the same but with added textures, except for ones like Link. So I don't really consider this a complete remake (graphically), but at the same time I can't consider it a port either because of those same visual differences. I'm still planning to get it, because I've been wanting OOT on a portable for years.

One of the major reasons why I didn't get a 3DS on launch. <3

I'm looking forward to this game so bad, it isn't even funny. It makes me want to re-beat the original.

Too bad I'm gonna get a 3DS in November for my B-Day. ):

This will be a great deal when I pick it up in 2013 with a redesigned 3DS Slim model costing far less than $250.

Having never really put much time into that game, I'd probably buy it for the 3DS - If I owned one. (or when - who knows!)

The Water temple was one of the reasons that game was so good IMO. The bosses, for me, was the second biggest draw.

I'm pretty stoked for this. It's definitely not the only reason for picking up a 3DS, but it's in my top five. Just the idea of kicking back and playing this title on a hand held, with an improved inventory, upgraded graphics and the option for seeing it in 3D gives me a boner of Dixonian proportions.

As great as getting Zelda: OOT on June 19 is and it is great, but there's lots of other games coming for the 3DS, that got released dates as well. Dream Trigger 3D is in April and fighting fans have two more great games coming in May with DOA: Dimensions, and BlazBlue: Continuum Shift II on May 24. Plus PAC-MAN & Galaga is also in June, and Cave Story 3D is June 28. So the only big upcoming 3DS game left to get a release date is, RE: The Mercenaries 3D, which is still set for summer release. There's lots more smaller titles as well, but all in all, I think the 3DS has a pretty good post launch line-up coming up here!

Exciting, but I wonder if this is something they did in response to the 3DS's sales not living up to their expectations.

@SirDregan

I was not even aware that the handheld in that video existed. It looks neat.

@Jonthetraveler

Not really, they had this pegged as a June release for a while now. It is just that they finally gave it a specific date.

@ jonthetraveler June has been the predicted month OoT would drop for a while now. I think Nintendo's strategy is to launch with titles that would not have been huge sellers (with a couple of fan favs mixed in), then trickle out the hotly anticipated titles through out the remainder of they year to boost hardware sales.

Not soon enough. The 3DS is a failure imo and it's sales thus far reflect this opinion.

It's no Resident Evilbut if this is out first it should hold me. Haven't beaten a Zelda game since link to the past, so hopefully this remake does good and keeps me in the game. (I've tried OOT on N64 numerous times and just can't play it, it doesn't have that nostalgia factor for me like it does with everyone else)

I should be super excited, but I'm not... I think I'll wait for Starfox 64 before I drop the dough on a 3DS.

I've only played about an hour of the Master Quest version (didn't own a Gamecube) so this will probably feel like a new experience. This is one of my favorite games, so I will totally be buying it.

I never finished the original, so yeah... nows definitely the time with this version. I canhardly wait for this and icarus.

Getting my zelda "fix" with OKAMIDEN right now, which I might add is wayy better than the two zelda games made for DS.

@Clance: June 17th in the UK.

That's two days before the US. Wow, once again we get a portable Zelda earlier than the States. Who would've thought that would happen twice a lifetime?
