Dante's quest will take him through all of the Circles of Hell and the latest developer diary for Dante's Inferno brings us to Heresy. As Dante gets lower in Hell, the more Hellish things become. Fire is everywhere, souls are filling the air with screams and the rivers are made of blood.
The video also shows that Dante won't just be saving damned souls. Players will also have the choice to save enemy creatures and it will all add up to Dante ending the game as a good person or being of pure evil. It's a pretty interesting twist and it at least makes the morality system not so cut and dry.
I know it's just a GOW clone and I know they are "videogaming" up the story from the original text, but I can't help but be interested in this. The whole topic of christian "mythology" so to speak is just terribly interesting to me, as is most religious mythologies.
I wasn't really paying it much heed, until I heard they actually had the audacity to have children, and thus child killing in the game. Not like I have some odd desire to around slaughtering toddlers, but I'm genuinely impressed that they actually went for the idea. Instead of the Fallout3/Fable2 route, where children are invincible and couldn't possibly be hurt by the player.
yeah, the only thing that makes this remotely interesting to me is the potential it has if it adheres to the original mythology. otherwise, unless it's really really really awesome, it's just another DMC/GoW clone that isn't DMC, isn't GoW, and is less sexy than Bayonetta. And I know I'm gonna end up playing it regardless...
I almost wish they'd stick with the original idea of hell getting colder and colder as you go down with eventually lucifer being frozen to the waste in the center of hell...BUT i can see how undramatic that could be. and fire is so much prettier too i suppose lol cant wait for this game! gonna be great. wonder if there will be sequels featuring purgatory and paradise

So what happens when he gets to the circle where all of the Greek and Roman philosophers just lounge around a washed out version of Athens? They were idolized by Dante, so he couldn't bathe them in flames, but they lived before Christ and so could not go to heaven. Is our video game Dante going to debate the meaning of existence? Or are we going to have a quick cut-scene before going on to the next one?
Wow, that was actually interesting. I tried so hard not to look at this seeing as it was from E.A. and looked just like another God of War clone but it actually grabbed my attention. What desn't makesense though is how they talk about either you being a sinning man with the scythe or a good man with the cross but they'll probably only be one ending. Can't wait to see the 7th circle of violence though. Oooooooooooh so excited.
@Bailey - Hell doesn't necessarily get colder the further you go down. In the inner most ring of the 7th circle, you have the blasphemers running across burning sand with fire raining down on them. I'm pretty sure it's only the 9th layer that has the ice and frozen stuff.
Despite my initial reservations I'm starting to warm up to this game. I don't really understand the moral choice aspect of it, but the game still looks interesting.
