Oh the irony! I have mocked the uselessness of online petitions for many years during my Destructoid tenure, and yet I am now forced to throw my support behind one because it's a subject I actually care about. A petition was started today to get The Last Story a Western release and, well, it's something.
At the time of writing, 1331 signatures are on the list and I'm throwing this out there for Destructoid readers who'd like to contribute. Will it make Nintendo of America do anything? Doubtful, but there's something to be said for trying. It's nice to see a petition that's actually positive for once, rather than "Please Capcom do not put Devil May Cry 4 on the Xbox 360!!!" so it's worth supporting.
As confident as I still am that The Last Story will get localized, it wouldn't hurt to at least show Nintendo of America that there's a solid fanbase out there. At the very least, a fanbase big enough to make The Last Story a cult success.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
I wonder if they'll notice the fact the creator of the petition spelled the company name "Mistawalker" on the petition. :/
Still signed it. Not like it'll harm things.
Sort of like how people thought Archaic Sealed Heat would be released worldwide?
B-but the tweets. They're in English D:
One or the other is inevitable.
Signing the petition with more than one e-mail address would be cheating,I take it. Would cheating to get a game released in the West be any better than cheating in the game? I'm going out on a limb and saying 'not likely'.
@Faux Furry i think the same thing in fact i signed with only my email address (the first sign).
For the rest i only want to say this: Help us to to publish this petition on your site, on your Faceboook account, and if is possible in every videogames site you know. If you do this, you can (if you want) publish your link on this Facebook Group http://www.facebook.com/pages/Gruppo-Localizzazione-JRPG-JRPG-localization-group/186217788063157?v=wall . In italy many videogames site start to publishing on its news wall the petition. In spain many users and many bloggers write everywhere the link of the petition. If you want and if you can do the same thing. And do the most important thing, sign it. Good bye and thank you.
I really miss post editing and quoting functions here
One for Europe: http://www.petitiononline.com/mod_perl/signed.cgi?xie34pal
With 144 signatures right now.
And one for the US: http://www.petitiononline.com/Monado/petition.html
With a grand total of 3.
...No, I will never let Xenoblade go
You should have posted the article when there were 1337 signatures. For shame.
GO LAST STORY GO!
Bobby Kotick can sell games to 1.6 million whiny internet nerds.
He's still a dick.
All Deathlock was saying was that Jim has called petitioners, in the past, whiny. It was sarcastic, and angled at Jim - not the signers.
I duly noted in the post itself that I am cynical of online petitions and that I made an exception, so it's not like I'm changing my stance or anything. I've also supported other noble petitions in the past, like the Alan Wake PC one: http://www.destructoid.com/alan-wake-pc-petition-has-a-buggerload-of-signatures-163764.phtml
Or the Counter-Strike 2 one: http://www.destructoid.com/gamers-petition-valve-for-counter-strike-2-161547.phtml
So no, it's not really hypocritical at all, and you're kind of douchey of putting it that way.
If you feel entitled to something, (like the L4D2 boycott where they basically acted like Valve should give them even more free stuff than they already had) you're acting a bit silly and should probably rethink your strategy.
So provided everyone's cool with paying $50 for TLS, I see no issue.
Though my interest in this game has started to fade as I find out more about it. Really not a fan of the games style either.
