Nintendo has released a new trailer for the upcoming release of the localized version of The Last Story for Europe. As you'd expect, it's still looking fantastic as ever. This trailer shows off a good amount of the flashy combat, the pretty vast customization options and even a couple of the cutscenes for good measure. Business as always.
However, there was one part of the trailer that particularly caught my eye. It was when Zael was moving through a tight space between some ropes on the back of the ship. I thought it was profoundly beautiful the way the sunset looked in the background and just the way the whole scene came together. I don't think I've ever seen anything on the Wii done like that. You know, it's a damn shame The Last Story still is not coming to the US. There still may be hope, though.
For a second there at the end I was thinking, "wait, why isn't Australia getting the limited edition?", but then I remembered that we're getting the game at all.
I do hope at some point it gets a North American release, it'd really suck if you guys had to miss out on what is looking like a pretty awesome game.
Already preordered. Since Nintendo of America wouldn't shut up and take my money with Xenoblade, I resorted to the import method. The game's creators are still getting my money, so I felt no shame in doing it. Since my wii is now equipped to accept sexy titles that NoA continues to be obtuse about bringing stateside (clearly they hate acute sexiness), I hopped all over the EU release like an isosceles whore.
I want it. Like, right now! Anyone else also think if FF games looked more like this (gameplay wise) they would've been more amazing? Might just be me.
Guh, they get that nifty special edition even? Enjoy it Europe, cuz now you have no right to bitch about not getting games. I'm still hopeful NOA pulls its head out of its ass and gives this at least the Xenoblade treatment. Everyone who hasn't already pre-ordered Xenoblade should do so as soon as possible!
@salamagogo: I'm not sure if you're trying to break the comments or something, with that weird hyphenation you're doing, but anyway...
You can absolutely mod your Wii without buying any special hardware or opening it up or anything like that. 'Softmodding', they call it. You just need to download a bunch of files and follow an appropriate guide; I've modded my own Wii and several others in this manner.
And to the pirates and importers: every time you deny these games a North American sale by not waiting for a localization, you're lowering our chances of ever getting things localized. Your gain is only for the short-term, but in the long-term, you're screwing all of us over.
I've got the limited edition of this preordered and ready for import. I'm so damn excited for it - I haven't played an RPG since Persona 4 came out.
@Filly64
A lot of people - myself included - will also buy a North American copy if it comes here. People imported the hell out of Xenoblade Chronicles and we're stilll getting that. If we don't get this, it's not the fault of importers - It's the fault of Nintendo of America for not listening to its customers.
Id rather have Last Story than Xenoblade, but Ill probably pickup Xenoblade just to support more games getting imported to NA.
I dont particularly mind a Japanese game not getting translated and ported to NA, but what pisses me off is them importing it to Euro and then NOT sending it over this way as well. Like shit guys, at least send it over to us in Canada. Were technically part of Euro AND we dont have those dumbfuck censoring laws that America does, and some of us even speak the Frenchies!
Mmmmm that game looks pretty. Too bad Xenoblade has already spoiled me. I hear that The Last Story isn't quite as "RPG of the decade!" as Xenoblade was.
My (second) copy of Xenoblade is preordered and paid for, but I would rather not have to buy 2 copies of this game as well,so I'm just going to wait for NoA to confirm it 13 months down the line.
This game already looked impressive, but this trailer shows the game to be even more amazing than before.
The scene mentioned in the article is incredible, and I never would have noticed it without reading. This is definitely a great looking game in terms of Wii.
I hope you Europeans by this game up. NOE is doing a great job localizing, with the voices and all. I'm pretty confident we'll get this game in America, considering that we are getting Xenoblade now. I'd preorder this on day one.
Looks promising. It's a shame that Nintendo of America is such a cruel mistress sometimes to its fans. Its apathy and technological lag is almost unforgivable today; thankfully wonderful things come along like Super Mario Galaxy 2 or Kirby's Epic Yarn to keep the love flowing.
There may be a "technological lag" with the Wii compared to other consoles, but I still say Super Smash Bros. Brawl is more detailed than over half of the 360 and PS3 games we get on a weekly basis.

Looks damn freaking sweet, now as long as NOA just does the correct thing and releases this in NA without a fight... then all is good.
you have my permission
Oh, I know it's CALLED The Last Story, and there are two (!) other games calling themselves FFXIII, but let's be honest, THIS is FFXIII.
