The Last Story gets rated ... for Australia photo

It seems that even Australia, famous for getting regularly screwed over by Nintendo, is getting a taste of The Last Story while North America gets left out in the cold. The Mistwalker RPG was recently rated for the country, meaning Aussie fans should get their hands on it in the near future.

Nintendo of America has been resolute in its refusal to localize The Last Story and Pandora's Tower, and won't publish Xenoblade despite the localization having already been done. The Wii has thusly had very little content at all this year, with only three or four games to look forward to before the Wii U renders it obsolete.

Still, Wii's are easy enough to modify (for the legal purchase of imported titles, of course!) and it's cool Australia gets something nice for a change.

I like how Nintendo is just fucking with North America at this stage.

In all honesty, they might as well just HD-upscale them and fire them out as WiiU launch titles.

"In all honesty, they might as well just HD-upscale them and fire them out as WiiU launch titles."

That is most likely what they are going to do in order to boost launch sales, especially with the new XBOX debuting at the next E3.

So Europe gets Xenoblade and Australia gets The Last Story, does this mean the U.S. gets Pandora's Tower?

How bad is it when Australia is more open to localizing a game than America? Did the world shift dramatically while I was asleep?

Anyway, when is this coming to Europe? I finally broke down and homebrewed my Wii to play Xenoblade, which is great btw, and Taiko No Tatsujin, so now I'm just waiting to import Pandora and Last Story. I went from ignoring my Wii entirely to being inseparable in the span of two weeks.

I just shouldn't have to break TOS and spend absurd amounts of money importing to get to that point.

Well I'm still keeping my fingers crossed that by some miracle of unknown origin, the games get localized stateside, especially as I plan to get a Wii. However, if it doesn't, I'll have a big backlog of games to purchase for it anyway.

I fully expect that this game will pull a Xenoblade and come out everywhere except for NA. Which means I'll be importing, and I'll be laughing my ass off that Nintendo hates that.

I think it will come out next year, a year where Nintendo has NOTHING lined up for consoles until THE HOLIDAYS.
It may be just me, but that simple fact just seems to say alot about Nintendo's hidden plans.

Although to those hopeful few, Amazon does have a listing for 'Monado: (Tagline)' which has screenshots from Xenoblade in Japanese (Monado being the name of the sword in the game), but an ESRB 'RP' symbol. No release date, and it's probably speculation on Amazon's part, but it might mean something.

Its weird how europe never complains about getting the shaft game wise (we didnt even get earthbound or chrono trigger), but a couple of games not localised for america causes an uproar. I Wish europe fought more for what it wanted.

If its been localised for aus, europe will probably get it, as its all within the pal region.

@Coutrney

What with the dollar being worthless right now, it would actually wind up being cheaper for you import games from the US than it would be to buy them from Europe.

@RenegadePanda: Yeah, but that listing has been up since Xenoblade was announced a few years back. When Operation Rainfall started, one of the things they did to gather support was get everyone to pre-order that listing to the #1 spot on the Amazon charts.

Probably because it's also a PAL region, Mr.Sperming? Also, if you guys in the States are forced to wait 13 years for it like we did for Chrono Trigger, I might show some sympathy. :D

Once everyone has finished importing the games THEN Nintendo America is going to port them over, point at the lack of sales because everyone already "bought" the games, then never import them again.

It all makes sense now.

I totally agree at this point NOA is just pissing on their market.

However turning these games into WiiU launch titles is one way to guarantee I will never buy a NEW nintendo product again. Assuming of course I ever buy another nintendo product.

considering that skyward sword is the most expensive nintendo game ever made NOA probably thinks throwing these great games down the pipe would just hurt SS sales

if thats not it then NOA can just fuck off

ROCK ON PAL REGION.

The only reason Australia would get the game is because Europe is (as logic would dictate). Xenoblade makes it a great year for the wii over here once Zelda comes out.

Blame Reggie guys, he is a blight on Nintendo.

I am ready Sakaguchi. Bring me the TRUE Final Fantasy.

NoA is borderline trolling at this point, there is no reason why these games aren't coming to the US. I hope they change their minds soon, Xenoblade did sell quite well I hear.

Software sales have dried up real bad for the Wii, its a wasteland and I don't blame Nintendo for not wanting to launch a pair games with no brand recognition at this point. They should save it for the Wii-U, thats what fans should be rattling off about.

Yeah he does sorta prattle on tho I have actually once seen Stealth make a valid point. Still the whole whining about whiners schtick gets old.

But its because we are all entitled scum ^^ damn us all to hell for expecting to be able to buy something that we want with our money. Not to mention the audacity of being fully willing and capable of taking our patronage elsewhere...

Huh. So the game has been translated to English. I don't claim to know how localization works, but I always assumed that was the big hurdle.

Hnnnnnng I AM SO HAPPY RIGHT NOW. This game came out while I was in Japan and I was so tempted to pick it up despite not knowing the language. Never thought Nintendo would actually get around to localising it. YES.

their are two main reasons I don't hack my wii. One is that its tricky and I'm too lazy to do it, but the second is that it can make it difficult to play new games since updating your wii can blow away the homebrew stuff (or so I have heard). But NOA has made it pretty clear that it's not releasing anything else for the wii but the new Zelda or Kirby games so I say hack away, if NOA doesn't want my money maybe NOE does.

Dr Peace is right on the money. This isn't Nintendo of Australia being awesome, they generally just get whatever NoE gets (except for downloadables, because having a game classified is too expensive for too little profit). They'll still sell it for double the price of the NoE copies, and plenty of us will still save 50% by importing from the UK.

Didn't Nintendo say they were looking to get the hardcore gamer back? It wouldn't surprise me if Nintendo decided to "hold" these three titles for now and push them out for the Wii-U with updated graphics. They could come on strong and make a bigger impression that way to the US and Europe markets.
