And why wouldn't it release here? The disk costs all of ONE dollar to manufacture. It would be foolish to squander the release. This is another method to build hype, just like console developers used to push the idea that there weren't enough machines to go around. Did everyone get a Wii that wanted one?
Holy crap, XSEED! They're my favourite publisher. They'll treat the game right. Although, to be fair, I haven't been able to find their last couple games at all (I live in Canada). I couldn't find Solatorobo for forever, and I asked for it for Christmas, and someone got it for me - she found it at EB games - she said the EB games guy told her that the game had just come out... That was some two months or so after the release date. And Fishing Resort... just... not at all. It's not even listed on the EB games website or even Amazon.ca. I understand some Wal-marts were supposed to get that game in limited quantities, but I've had no luck begrudgingly scouring their stupid game bins. Plenty of copies of "Deadliest Catch: Sea of Chaos" though. >_>
I'm sure the situation with The Last Story will be better though. I should hope. There's enough hype behind it, I should think it'll do really well for XSEED. I'll have to pre-order it.
Anyway, it's pretty funny that Nintendo seems to be like "Ugh, fine, let's just let someone else have it. Will you leave us alone now". But that's okay. :p I often say that the proof that XSEED is a great publisher - that they care about their fans and they care about the games they're releasing - is in the instruction manuals. They always have wonderful full colour instruction manuals, not to mention they often have reversible cover arts, and Solatorobo even had the CD soundtrack... It just always feels like you're getting a lovingly made package when you buy one of their games. And it's crazy when you consider that these are games like Solatorobo while big publishers like Activision and EA feel the need to "cut costs" and not even offer instruction manuals for games like Call of Duty that sell tens of millions. This obviously isn't really as big of a deal as I'm making it out to be, but I'm glad, anyway, that XSEED is doing this game. Like I say, they'll treat it right. (Even Nintendo seems to be getting lazier about their instruction manuals - I've noticed their most recent games have had really short ones - but decent and in colour nonetheless.)

Fuck yes! First "Good People Die" and now this!? What a great two days for niche Japanese games publishers.
This and Xenoblade are why I bought a wii (well, also muramasa), glad that I'm finally getting these.
Wii exclusive? Screw that, I don't care if its the best RPG ever made. Not buying any more games for that dust magnet.
So, how is the localization breaking down? I'm a bit confused. Is Nintendo doing the localization for Europe, or are they outsourcing it to XSEED yet still publishing it themselves? And if there's an official Nintendo of Europe translation, will XSEED use that in America and simply publish it, or is XSEED retranslating it themselves?
It's not that I dont' trust XSEED's localization -- I really liked their work on Ys: The Oath in Felghana and Retro Game Challenge -- but it would be weird to potentially abandon an official translation done by Nintendo themselves. Plus, that might bring British-accented voice acting to the US edition like Xenoblade Chronicles, and I really like that in a fantasy game.

I've been waiting far too long to read that headline, but I'm still overjoyed to finally be reading it. I hope we also get that nifty special edition that Europe got, as it's one of very few video game special editions I can see myself buying. With soundtrack please!

I had a feeling this would come in 2012..after all Nintendo needs to release something for the Wii. Great on XSeed. They are one of my favorite publishers, and this will be a day one purchase for me.
