wish Anarchy Reigns were released in it's original date(july 2012)
fucking sega US
It takes a while before you get all of the skills you can use in battle but thankfully they carry across to the much harder New Game Plus! Not to mention the battle system itself takes a while to get used to but I love it and I'm just rambling now... Also: Uematsu!
7.5/10
well i guess this will allow me to play growlanser and KH 3ds earlier than expected.
Don't use the word "tropes". It's another idiotic word that needs to burn to death. Thanks.
@cimerians
tell your fingers to not bother next time they want to type out such moronic thought patterns. Thanks.
I've even bought the limited edition on release, since I really love JRPGs in general and the spiritual predecessor Lost Odyssey (such a great game!) in particular. I was, however, deeply disappointed with Last Story, it's just lacking quality.
Do yourself a favor and at least try it out before you preorder! Just my two cents...
There are starving kids in Europe who never get to eat certain lollipops, at least before their expiration date.
EAT THE LOLLIPOP.
Can't help but notice that you seem to hate the word "trope." Not sure if you realize this, but it's actually a educated term, that it meant something before the famed site TV Tropes came along. It's not an idiotic word, it's one that's existed for literally hundreds of years (a quick search says it's been around since 1533, that's considerably older than most words, hell, it's older than the word "considerably!). So while I guess I can understand why you might mistakenly associate the word with a rather silly site, you should figure it probably won't die out now considering that it's almost 500 years old now.
Cheers!
Did the length have anything to do with those feelings?
I wanted to love the hell out of this game, but I just cannot get behind such a SHORT rpg anymore. And I mean short.
Uematsu was incredible however. He's a great guy with alot of passion, if you ever have an opportunity to meet him I strongly suggest you do so. Ask him about his dog, you will really get him chatting.
Just pre-ordered it a little bit ago. Really glad they had the good sense to add the soundtrack too (even if it is only 7 tracks, which is the lame part).
Still hoping to see Pandora's Tower localized, but I guess I'll live if it ends up being left behind. We got Xenoblade and this and those are the 2 I was most excited for. Still........ would love to.... see it..... Nintendo.......
Anyway, I already pre-ordered it. I was on the fence about this game, but considering the limited quantities, the limited edition packaging and art book, and now a soundtrack, this is too sweet a deal for me to pass up. Props to XSEED.
Length was certainly part of the problem. However, I felt Last Story was somehow overall lacking, its quality was just not on par with Sakaguchi's great legacy. Well, maybe my high expectations contributed to the following disappointment...
It sounds like you've had the chance to talk to Uematsu in the past, which is certainly great. I love his work and would give a lot for such an opinion. On the other hand, my Japanese is not that good yet, so communication might be difficult. Kudos to you in any case :-)
@moo99:
Yeah I know, Nintendo sucks regarding demos. However, I suppose in the US shops like Gamestop let you try such games, too? Otherwise, asks friends or family members, how should I know?! It was only a recommendation, which would have saved me 60 bucks...
Meant to @everyone before the Uematsu comment, totally didnt mean that to come off as bragging to you (if it did).
Yeah though, keep an eye out for concerts involving his work in your area (if possible). He just showed up at Distant Worlds in Seattle, barley announced, and did the vocals on One Winged Angel. The whole place went absolutly nuts! Then he hung around and did a meet and greet with the serious fans. Took pics, signed things, the works. Couple of people hung around pretty late, it was just like five of us and Uematsu sitting around a table in a conference room. Sat there listening to our stories about how his work influenced us with the smile of a father hearing of his childrens childhoods for a good hour. Really amazing guy.
XSEED is not known for quality translations.
Glad to hear that. Distant Worlds was just announced recently in my area for next March (all the more shocking considering that area is Omaha), and I've been wondering if he'll be hanging around afterwards for autographs and such. His presence has been announced so I'm kinda hoping he does this One winged Angel performance you saw, which I'm sure was mindblowing. March feels so damn far away right now : (
