Sony has just opened up pre-orders for the Digital Edition of The Last of Us, due out on June 14, and for the game's Season Pass, providing some nuggets of information about what the post-release content for the game will look like in the process. Three downloadable content packs have been announced, two of which will contribute to the multiplayer portion while the other will expand the single-player story.
They're also offering some inducements to get people on board with buying digitally on day one with in-game bonuses that will boost the speed of crafting, healing and reloading and expand rifle clip capacity, along with a 90-minute "making-of" documentary. And, to address the most impatient among us, the Digital Edition will not only be available to download at midnight on launch day, but will feature an installer which allows the game to be played prior to completing its transfer, "once the game data is a little over halfway downloaded." It's like the bright future of the PS4 is already here (feel free to take that statement with as much or as little contempt as you like).
The Digital Edition of The Last of Us can be pre-ordered in the US now from the PlayStation Store for $59.99, while the Season Pass is priced at $19.99. Pre-orders are expected to open in other regions soon.
