How is that or being a dirty city even an issue in a game? And how come this hipster garbage didn't come up for the Fallout DLC? I mean, that was set in Pittsburg too. I don't even like Pittsburg (too industrial and old for my tastes) but I don't like NYC and nobody complains about games set here, even though we get about 5 a year every friggin' year. Ugh.
"And how come this hipster garbage didn't come up for the Fallout DLC?"
Bulk of the hipster movement, at least the spotlight on it, started well after Fallout and its DLC.
"I don't even like Pittsburg (too industrial and old for my tastes)"
Exactly why its mentioned as being too dirty. Also see: Detroit and many other industrial heavy cities in the US.
Honestly, we're not industry heavy anymore. We're actually a pretty big technology hub these days. Google is here. I work about thirty minutes north of the city itself for an EDI Solutions firm. Deloitte has a large office in the area. Westinghouse nuclear has a huge complex right next to where I work.
Carnegia Mellon, Duquesne, Robert Morris, Pitt and some other smaller colleges are all throughout the city itself.
I think a lot of people still have this image of a grimy smoke covered steel town. That's not what it is any more. I like to think we still have the mentality that was born from that environment, but it's not any more grimy than other cities really.
I'm a bit confused as the fact it was voted worst dressed city by a fashion-focused magazine like GQ somehow outranks the importance of being voted as the U.S.'s most livable city multiple times by Forbes and the number one U.S. city (and the 29th overall in the world, mind you) by the Economist. Give me a fucking break. Stop trolling your own damn website.
Perhaps they do it in order to avoid the gaze of Roethlisberger, who doesn't understand what "no" means.
Yes, its dirty, but a lot of that stigmata comes from the fact pittsburgh was, for the longest time, the biggest steel producer in america. Most of them have been shut down for a long ass time now. And its more of a medical/tech/design hub now.
And this is when I realized I was mad at a videogame blogger about something he has no clue about. Good job Jim!... er.. its not Jim? Could have fooled me.
"But the city of 335,000, which has transitioned from an industrial town to one of the country’s most livable cities, may not be to blame for its bad air. According to some research, much of Pittsburgh’s pollution is blown in from factories and power plants in Ohio."

It's an absolutely gorgeous city with a lot do to that isn't too big or too small, and isn't filled with assholes like New York. It's not my favorite city in the country, but it's definitely in the top five.
Don't be such a jackass.
Maybe the Monongahela but anyone thinking that must've last visited in the 40's.
and worst dressed...Pah. Fuckin' hipster fashion bullshit.
Talkin' shit about my city, you do not do.
