Just for the record, a transsexual woman is technically a biological woman, regardless if you think she is a "true" woman. If she has all the characteristics of a biological woman, she is a biological woman. 1 = 1.

As I was saying... Under company policy I can only add MY domestic partner to my health care is if we were same sex. How the FUCK is that fair? Gay rights > equal rights really bothers me. And believe me when I say I talked to HR for hours and hours trying to understand this policy. Gay or married. That's it.

I have to admit, I don't quite get transgender. Gay, yes. Transgender, no. It seems like a matter of either a) not being able to accept who you physically are or b) buying into your culture's bullshit gender roles (which are constructed) so that if you are a "femmy" guy you think you need girl parts and vice versa. And ffs, this wasn't even POSSIBLE until a few decades ago! So it seems hard to call it 'natural' in the same way you would call being gay natural if that makes sense?
I'm not judging or anything, and I support the LGBT community, I'm just saying this is one thing I can't quite wrap my brain around personally. Ironically, I think it's because I'm an anthropologist. In terminology, we see gender and sex as separate - gender is how your culture says you should act based on your sex (physical attributes). I'm just worried that people who don't fit their culture's gender stereotypes are turning to sex-change etc. rather than saying "hey, I'm a guy who acts kinda 'feminine' and I'm cool with that". Part of the reason I'm involved with the goth scene is that I feel I can be male and heterosexual without acting like a freaking macho stereotype. The one girl I knew who wanted a sex change acting so macho it was utterly cliche. So it really came off to me like she was uncomfortable acting that way as a woman. Which ultimately I see as bad, because it just reinforces the gender stereotypes that limit us all.
But when it comes to their bodies, people's choices and perspectives are their own, whether or not anyone else "gets it" or not. Just trying to be honest about how and why I have trouble understanding it.

Lol, i was yelling at some myself earlier when i posted that. I was in high blood pressure land myself because of some previous dramatic comments on this post.
