Regardless, pre-order bonuses like this always leave me conflicted: one hand, it doesn't real seem worth the extra money for something that cost like five cents to make. On the other hand, it looks so awesome!
I also can't read any of the website.
I also have no money.
Nintendo route? What do you mean, they call Birdo 'she' now so I must be missing something.
And apparently Poison is trans so the term would be 'she' as well, the only issue is whether she's pre- or post-op, that depends on which side of the ocean you're playing on.
And I, for one, don't care what gender Poison is. I'd hit that and you're a liar if you say you wouldn't.
No, not biased... the word you were looking for is "bigoted". Great job at being offensive.
Why? Not to start any bullcrap, but Poison, being a transsexual, is not a biological woman.
Recognizing that doesn't make anyone a bigot.
"Biological" and "real" are just weasel words.
The reference to Poison in this news piece wasn't a valid piece of that discussion—it was a cheap swipe at a character who represents a real segment of human beings, some of whom make up the readership of this very website.
I'm really not trying to start a fight, but seriously?
"Biological" is offensive to transsexuals? I'm sorry but that sounds insane.
If any trans-person reads this, please don't take my comments as an attack.
I'm just, honestly, baffled by what is happening in here.
People who are trans know who they were, and who they are now. All they want is to be treated with enough respect to refer to them in the way they identify.
@Theswweet: I'm not even bi and I would. Actually wait.... That would make me bi, huh? Fuck it. I'm bi!
Citing someone is not a "biologicaL woman" is pretty much the same as saying "you're not a 'real' woman."
Why not call them a fake, a fraud or a phony while you're at it. Just because someone doesn't subscribe to your concept of gender does not make them the gender they feel they are.
My understanding is that Poison was made a transgender because Capcom USA didn't want Final Fight to feature violence against women, and Capcom Japan misunderstood.
There was nothing bigoted in that.
This is obviously a very loaded topic for you, so I will refrain from responding.
Still, I feel you have overacted to my replies, are behaving out of tone in this conversion, and that I haven't done anything to warrant snide remarks or disdain.
So, violence against transgenders/sexuals is okay, but woman isn't?
@Philik
Well, if you're attracted to the dick a pre-op poison would have. If you aren't, or are talking about the post-op Poison, then you aren't bi.
Capcom USA actually tried to rationalize Cody and Guy beating up on a woman because she was a transsexuals.
Nintendo of America was like "... And how does that make it OK?"
And so Poison was removed from the SNES version of Final Fight.
"So, violence against transgenders/sexuals is okay, but woman isn't?"
...what about violence against men?
And you know that's not what I meant. The story goes that Capcom USA requested the change of Poison to a man because they thought American audiences would think badly about seeing women being beaten. Capcom Japan misunderstood this to thinking they wanted to turn Poison into a transsexual. Keep in mind that Capcom Japan had no problem with Poison being a woman and they thought the request was weird.
No one in this equation is being bigoted, because nether side understood the other and the whole thing was an accident.
And I didn't actually notice at first but that comment about why is Poison even there in the picture? Can't tell if that's just ignorance or what but yeah that's pretty offensive.
Ah, ok. I'm just... a bit protective of the issue, because some of my best friends are trans. I guess because it's often treated in a bigoted way, that I'm quick to assume.
"Capcom USA actually tried to rationalize Cody and Guy beating up on a woman because she was a transsexuals."
Err... no. That didn't happen.
The removal of Roxy and Poison from the SNES version happened because regardless of them being transsexuals, they looked like women. This happened in Japan long after the Arcade version, where they were already transsexuals, was released in around the world.
"This happened in Japan long after the Arcade version..."
Correction: It happened in the US. The Japanese version includes Poison and Roxy, and the manual identifies them as transsexual.
This is true, in the original artwork for Poison and Roxy there were notes that translated into 'newhalf', which is the japanese term for transgendered.

Thanks for the video,
although it missed a part from the story.
The rest of it is pretty much spot-on with what I knew, so it's nice to get some confirmation.

Nope.
