I'm a total sucker for absurd facts and statistics vaguely rooted in videogames. As such, I felt obligated to post some cool Just Cause 2 figures that were sent our way. First off, the 30-minute demo for the game has reached 2 million downloads. No kidding. It's easily one of the better demos in recent memory.

A nice accomplishment by Avalanche Studios, no question, but where's the crazy. Oh, here it is:

"Players have driven a distance equivalent to a trip from the earth to the moon and back four times; Panau Island has lost almost 30 million of its population (with approximately 2.5 million headshots, almost a million drivers hurled from hijacked vehicles and 27,000 Piñata kills); and players have base jumped the equivalent of a freefall through the Earth's core, pole-to-pole, twice."

I remember hearing about Just Cause 2's stat-tracking abilities before -- yep, they were telling truth. After the break, we've got the latest "Anatomy of a Stunt" trailer. It's admittedly rather awesome. Especially considering this is, what, the billionth video?

I frigging hated the Just Cause 2 demo. Am I the only person in this site who hated it? I found the Infamous demo better......

I liked the demo. Even if you don't think the game is fun at all, it does exactly what a demo should do: give you a taste of the gameplay. The JC2 demo did that in spades: gave access to most of the powers, a couple of fun weapons, a bunch of vehicles, and a big fat area to have fun in.

Yes, I appreciate the fact that the area was huge, but I just the controls to be too messy and the bad guys were too hard. Are the PSN demo and XBL demo different? I only tried the PSN demo

Its just you man. The controls work great for me. Within one session I was grappling around and flying through the air like the biggest baddest flying squirrel that has ever lived.

The bad guys, IMO, were too easy. I died more often because of aerial mishaps on my own stupid part than actual gunfire. Actually, not just aerial... I t-boned a jeep going probably 80-100 MPH on a motorcycle... At least the resulting explosion was good, right?

Perhaps it's just you, and probably other people who aren't used to this kind of game. The controls are great. And the grappling hook + parachute is awesome! You can be like Spiderman without the buildings.

The bad days though... it depends. They're relatively easy as long as you keep moving. It's just annoying how hectic the pace gets, however. Sometimes enemies fire at you and you don't know where it's coming from. Sometimes they fire a grenade. Hell, when I picked up that helicopter a friggin' Stinger missile was heading towards me!

I saw videos of Rico attaching people to cars and propelant canisters. How the frak do you do that? I already thought the demo was awesome making this a must own game but then I saw that and was even more amazed. The only thing I think would make this better for me would be Red Faction G's destruction and the airstrikes of Mercenaries.

i really thought this game wouldn't be any fun. i walked up to a free standing gas tank. shot it. it fizzed. i was thinking pfft. grappled it, and the next thing i knew i was in the air, like a bottle rocket. i must have repeated just that, 500 times.

It'll automatically auto-lock on cars and attachable objects. Then fire the grappling hook.

1. Aim at an object.
2. Press and hold the grapple button.
3. Shift your reticule, crosshairs [whatever you want to call it] onto whatever object you want to attach to.
4. Release the grapple button.

Wah-Lah! You've just attached two things together and depending on what exactly you've just attached, hilarity can ensure in numerous ways.

Instant buy for me. And instant DLC buy for me if they add in Co-op [though I'll accept free Co-op DLC Avalanche!]. I'd love nothing more than to get some Detoid members together to cause some chaos in Panau.

I was expecting shit from this. I downloaded it day 1 and put off playing it for awhile... I'm stupid. I read review for JC1 and they seem to complain of repetitiveness. I would say as long as this one isn't repetitive, it will be one of the best open world games ever.

The demo was pretty fun but it exploited an issue for me that I didn't have prior to the game which was the long stretches of dessert.

Dessert? I want your version version of the demo, please. Were all the towns made of cake? An ocean of pudding?

You know, Rico in spanish also means "Delicious", so you can see why he is so hot... i mean, why the game is so great.

Thanks Synp and Drakengard. I need to go try that tonight. I think it's awesome you can send enemies flying by attaching them to the propellant canisters.

The sort of mechanic will allow people to go nuts and create stunts the developers didn't think of.

Also agree that coop would be great for this. I wonder if it has mini-submarines like the first Just cause

Protip: Use your grappling hook to yank you towards an object (or the ground). While you're being pulled forward, double tap the Spacebar. While you're in the air, use your grappling hook to yank you towards an object (or the ground) While you're being pulled forward, double tap the Spacebar. Rinse, lather, repeat.

You can do a pretty decent job covering ground, as well as dodging helicopter fire at the same time once you get pretty good at it.

Dammit, they had to go and put some Pendulum in the trailer to make me buy this. I'M NOT MADE OF MONEY!

I've played both demos at length, was initially worried that the 30 minute timer was like the cut off limit in battlefield 1943 at first glance. The draw distance on the ps3 seems a lot better. The bloom effects on the 360, although cool when looking up through trees, is somewhat of a nuisance when looking down at the ground from above. The camera seems to take a step back on the PS3, letting you see more. Visually, I'm enjoying the PS3 version much better (and I do 90% of my gaming on the 360) Controls, although they are the same, I dig triggers for my weapons, so 360 you get a nod in that direction. To tell you the truth, I'm not as excited for this game as I was before playing the demo. There are so many cool new games out there to play, but I still want to give this one a chance... to let me jump a shark. Damn, I hope there will be sharks.

Why the FFVII hate? It's still a good game to this day.
P.S. Thanks Drakengard and SymphonyX7! I'll get this game sometime during the summer. Spent my gaming money on God of War 3 Ultimate Edition, Pokemon Heart Gold and FFXIII this month already.

I didn't like the demo either, but I feel like I was missing out on the real demo. I played it twice, the first time I hijacked a helicopter and blew shit up until I died. On my second run I was mainly on foot or driving while I blew shit up until the timer went out. A timer? Really? I thought demos stopped with timers in 2007? Neither playthrough was any fun. Maybe there was a storyline in there that I was completely missing. Free roaming like that just wasn't fun to me. It's not that it was bad, it's just that I was left feeling more apathetic towards it than I were before.

I have not played a demo this much since the Crackdown demo. The controls are a bit finicky on the PC and it has a bit of a learning curve, but it's way too much fun. But then, I love sandboxes filled with explosives. It brings me back to my childhood. (In a minefield)
