I'm a total sucker for absurd facts and statistics vaguely rooted in videogames. As such, I felt obligated to post some cool Just Cause 2 figures that were sent our way. First off, the 30-minute demo for the game has reached 2 million downloads. No kidding. It's easily one of the better demos in recent memory.
A nice accomplishment by Avalanche Studios, no question, but where's the crazy. Oh, here it is:
"Players have driven a distance equivalent to a trip from the earth to the moon and back four times; Panau Island has lost almost 30 million of its population (with approximately 2.5 million headshots, almost a million drivers hurled from hijacked vehicles and 27,000 Piñata kills); and players have base jumped the equivalent of a freefall through the Earth's core, pole-to-pole, twice."
I remember hearing about Just Cause 2's stat-tracking abilities before -- yep, they were telling truth. After the break, we've got the latest "Anatomy of a Stunt" trailer. It's admittedly rather awesome. Especially considering this is, what, the billionth video?
Jordan Devore is Destructoid's PC gaming manager and founding ginger editor. He is said to be easy to love but difficult to know. When Samit inquired about his curious bio photo Jordan simply replied:
"bitches love sandcastles" ... yet, there is no sandcastle in that photo. We may never truly understand his ways.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Man, fuck those Piñatas.
Yes, I appreciate the fact that the area was huge, but I just the controls to be too messy and the bad guys were too hard. Are the PSN demo and XBL demo different? I only tried the PSN demo
Its just you man. The controls work great for me. Within one session I was grappling around and flying through the air like the biggest baddest flying squirrel that has ever lived.
The bad guys, IMO, were too easy. I died more often because of aerial mishaps on my own stupid part than actual gunfire. Actually, not just aerial... I t-boned a jeep going probably 80-100 MPH on a motorcycle... At least the resulting explosion was good, right?
Perhaps it's just you, and probably other people who aren't used to this kind of game. The controls are great. And the grappling hook + parachute is awesome! You can be like Spiderman without the buildings.
The bad days though... it depends. They're relatively easy as long as you keep moving. It's just annoying how hectic the pace gets, however. Sometimes enemies fire at you and you don't know where it's coming from. Sometimes they fire a grenade. Hell, when I picked up that helicopter a friggin' Stinger missile was heading towards me!
It'll automatically auto-lock on cars and attachable objects. Then fire the grappling hook.
1. Aim at an object.
2. Press and hold the grapple button.
3. Shift your reticule, crosshairs [whatever you want to call it] onto whatever object you want to attach to.
4. Release the grapple button.
Wah-Lah! You've just attached two things together and depending on what exactly you've just attached, hilarity can ensure in numerous ways.
Instant buy for me. And instant DLC buy for me if they add in Co-op [though I'll accept free Co-op DLC Avalanche!]. I'd love nothing more than to get some Detoid members together to cause some chaos in Panau.
Dessert? I want your version version of the demo, please. Were all the towns made of cake? An ocean of pudding?
The sort of mechanic will allow people to go nuts and create stunts the developers didn't think of.
Also agree that coop would be great for this. I wonder if it has mini-submarines like the first Just cause
You can do a pretty decent job covering ground, as well as dodging helicopter fire at the same time once you get pretty good at it.
Also, how cool is it that SE now has AVALANCHE working for them?
huh huh?
FFVII? bah you're no fun.

Drum and bass, my one weakness.
Why the FFVII hate? It's still a good game to this day.
P.S. Thanks Drakengard and SymphonyX7! I'll get this game sometime during the summer. Spent my gaming money on God of War 3 Ultimate Edition, Pokemon Heart Gold and FFXIII this month already.
but man you gotta be lucky to have things fall in the right place that high up.
No one else's had gingerbread soldiers and ice cream mountains?
