The lipstick thing makes me feel like they're trying to touch on the transvesticism theme that "Arkham Asylum: A Serious House on Serious Earth" follows. Either that or it's just a subtle nod.

Yeah, there was, and I was going to mention that too. They announced Joker was coming back, it was just about the firs thing they did, and they showed how his face was all messed up from the fallout of the first game then.
I think the point is more along the lines that they haven't said a whole lot about him since, and this is (probably, I can't remember and dont' want to do a "quick" search that probably won't turn out all that quick) the first full length thing pertaining to him and Harley since then.

I didn't think about that, but it totally does. I love that graphic novel. I always thought Paul Dini drew a lot for it when writing the scenario for Arkham Asylum.

Doesn't Harley Quinn have a new voice actor? If I remember correctly from an earlier Dtoid article. If so... she does a good job at keeping Harley's voice.
