The Joker's Fatality puts a smile on your face photo

There’s something oddly beautiful about watching the Joker in action in Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe after checking out The Dark Knight. The classic Batman villain has been everywhere recently, including HAWP. One of the questions I have always had about MK Vs. DC is how exactly the developers are going to navigate the new Teen rating while still having the visceral charm of Mortal Kombat. My question has been answered in the form of the Joker's Fatality.

If the screenshot above and accompanying video after the break aren’t enough to get your juices flowing about the game, then I don’t know what will. My excitement meter has finally reached critical mass. That means it passed over previous staples of excitement that include cinnamon pretzels, blueberry pie, and flamethrowers.

What do you guys think? Is this enough to satisfy your sinister urges? Do you think The Joker’s fatality is apt? Or will Mortal Kombat Vs DC Universe ultimately be a waste of your time?

Yeah in the cblog I posted yesterday about this, the general thought was "awesome"

then there were some calling for him to either beat the opponent down and leave them in an about to explode building, or shoot/paralyze them then take off their clothes, take pictures, and show them to their dad.

but the gag shot works well too.

Neat, I have absolutely no plan to play this but it's still nice and it fits. Now I'm a bit curious as to what Deathstroke's fatality will be.

Definitely the coolest fatality I've ever seen. One question: Why are his eyes glowing?

The only way it could be better is if he was voiced by Mark Hamill.

A very nice twist at the end there. Kitana was like "wth", and then the Joker goes boom.

I just came, and then preordered.

Yep, made me smile... I thought the flag was gonna fly off like the backstory in 'Return Of The Joker', but in a way this was even better!
This raised my interest in the game to... 2% ¬_¬

I love how his face makes me think that he just pulled out the wrong gun at first, and then when she goes "Oh you've got to be kiddi-" BOOM! Hahahah.

I love it.

IT's funny, yes, but that doesn't look very "Teen" rated to me.

I'm pretty sure headshots are squarely in the "Mature" realm.

Not that I care, though. I wouldn't buy this game with a 10 foot stick! Wait, what?

highlar_of_bb at 08/23/2008 11:37
I have to say what made it particularly satisfying for me WAS how they did Kitana's response. She's like "Oh you've got to be kidding me..." then looks back RIGHT at the barrel of the new gun and then BAM! the Joker pounds her. Classic stuff right there. :-) I haven't been too interested in the game up until now, but that does give the ol' interest meter a little peak up, if only to just play as the Joker. :-)
highlar_of_bb's Avatar
highlar_of_bb at 08/23/2008 11:39
Oh, and the Joker's response to his own joke is classic, too. Too bad we can't hear the maniac giggling he's making after the joke...and REALLY making after he blows off her face. :-) THAT must be awesome. hehe

That's awesome, I just hope they have more than two fatalities per character. You'd think with the power of the 360 and PS3 they can squeeze out a bigger number than what's been the norm since the Genesis, and that was 15 years ago.
Phish's Avatar
Phish at 08/23/2008 14:21
I wasn't interested in the gimmick alone, but then I saw the gameplay video and the fighting honestly looks tight and enjoyable, and with fatalities like this I think it's sure to be a stellar fighter.

Why so serious?

A little disapointed that he doesn't use the trick gun a second time to shoot the flag into the opponent's chest WB batman style.
Though the happy little dance he does after both shots makes up for it and still has the same style.

I like how they made sure hes the only one that gets the joke with the expressions and all.

If you watch the video it's from, the Joker's eyes are shining because he performed the fatality while in "Rage Mode," during which the character glows with rage for six seconds of increased power.
