[The Jimquisition is a weekly unscripted rant from Jim Sterling, aka some fat twat with a microphone. He swears and complains and occasionally makes some sort of interesting point.]
This episode is about the noble game review, that most wonderful of subjects which never fails to bring the morons out of the woodwork. Two reviews in particular brought out some intensely idiotic comments concerning the nature of "bias" and "objectivity." I tackle these subjects in what is definitely the most vitriolic episode to date.
Do you think reviews should be objective? Do you not know how to use the word "bias" correctly? Do you get upset because someone's review score isn't the same as everybody else's on Metacritic? If your answer to any of these questions is yes, then you might want to brace yourself for Jimpact.
Jim Sterling serves as reviews editor for Destructoid.com, head of the Podtoid podcast, and produces a number of news stories, original features, one-of-a-kind videos. With his passionate argumentative style, controversial opinions, harsh delivery, and dedication to brutal honesty Sterling is a name that you can't help but recognize.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
IT'S FUCKING HUGE
EXACTLY what I was thinking, dude.
Seconded. Agree or disagree, I know I can get a well written, honest opinion from a gamers perspective. I couldn't have disagreed more with Jim's review of Alpha Protocol and thought he made some serious errors in reviewing the game - But, that is his prerogative and opinion. And frankly, his job.
also,
This video is totally bananas.
I actually did end this video with a mic throw but I didn't like the lead up so I cut it. I generally will be ending a lot of them that way.
Seriously, isn't the whole point of a review to give YOUR opinion of the game?
Bias : Verb, Don't say it or Jim will kick your ass.
Were you channeling Tony Harrison when yo uwere reading the Tango Down comment?
Kinda sounded like him.
Also, Banana Bias and keep these coming.
Great thing about personal reviews, is that I can read through it, understand why the reviewer does/doesn't like the game and from there on determine whether it's my cup o' tea or not. I could really care less about the score so long as the reviewer can articulate why they give it the score they do. I'm an intelligent enough consumer, a bad review doesn't mean I'll think it's bad, and a good review doesn't mean I'll think it's good. I can read it and take away from it things that I as a gamer will or will not like.
Hell, sometimes bad reviews are almost the most valuable in terms of determining whether I want a game or not.
Keep em coming, I'm really enjoying the fruits of your labours.
*facepalm*
That was awful I'm sorry.
Example: Crackdown 2. Jim was not a fan of it and didn't give it a high score. I love the game and find it addicting. I love the orb collecting, I love messing around in the open world, and the main mission doesn't bother me too much. Both opinions are correct, just different. That's why there are different reviewers and websites, so you can a variety of fucking opinions.
I think the banana should review your reviews, I'm gonna have to check out http://bananareviewsgames.tumblr.com/ for the objective truth about your review of your reviews.
I may not always agree with the reviews here on Destructoid, yours or otherwise, but I never feel they are biased or unfair.
Keep up the good work.
Also, cocks.
Very few nanners are actually grown in the US. Only a tiny amount come from Florida and Hawaii. Willing to bet that there is a South American banana.
Jim is right.
'Nuff said.
But yeah, the ratio between people who use the word bias and people who know what it means is like 1:45 Million
BAHNANAAAA!
