The level design is literally a continuous linear corridor with enemies that pop out when you enter rooms or press buttons. It's not particularly good, but it IS exactly the same as other modern shooters like CoD. Does that mean that you don't understand what makes a good game if you like Call of Duty?
I used to be a critic and now I cant get enough of your Jimquisitions. Stay awesome, Jim. Happy Birthday, hope you got all the games you asked for.
Both Duke Nukem and Shadows of the damned have outlandish humor, yet the difference is Shadows can be funny some times, in other words you may be able to generalize it by saying corridors, but the way they are executed can make a world of a difference.
It would have been different if you'd said writing instead of level design. Then I would have agreed with you. ;) The writing in DNF is absolutely terrible.
I tend to read into things more than I would like, I mean I criticize Deus ex human revolution level design, so I guess you could say that you take what I say about DNF with a grain of salt, though I do strongly stand by it.
Jim, you lost your balls somewhere? Bash on the new CoD you loved for it's stupid story (I mean, thats something not even square does. Russia taking over europe in ONE DAY?! It took the Nazis way more than a day to take over BELGIUM! And that was called a "Blitzkrieg"! And opposed to the Russians, the German where a high tech army back in the day.)
Or Zelda SS. Or other overhyped games with flaws that don't come from a studio so small they couldn't even afford good graphics?
Well anyway.
I don't remember anything in the games marketing campaign claiming to be the best game ever. In fact the whole marketing campaign, in my opinion, set me up for exactly what I got and was able to take from it. A game that was never meant to be taken seriously and an end to the most tired April Fools joke of the video game industry (come up with new ones now you tired old hacks *shakes fist*).
While I agree that all the games were poorly made and just terrible games. People attacking others who enjoyed or didn't enjoy a game is silly, and insulting their intelligence because of opinion, double silly. You are not going to change someone's opinion by calling them names it's their opinion, deal with it!
I think ultimately the issue with the entire entertainment critic industry, is that they seem unable to think about what types of people would enjoy a medium and what types wouldn't. Instead they offer their complete and total one dimensional opinion, and make anyone with an opposing opinion out to be some kind of half-witted idiot. One day in my utopian future, this will change. Until then I'll live on knowing that I have my own opinion on what to buy and play, and get my OWN enjoyment out of it (or disappointment in some cases).
As a side note, I tried SO HARD to enjoy X-Men Destiny, and couldn't. Canada had such a bad showing this year. We should all be ashamed of ourselves.
*grabs soap box and waddles home carrying his Canadian flag*
I thinkit did have quite abit of nostalgia and stupid humour going for it.
It's good to see that someone else plays a game before judging it. It pisses me off when games are instantly talked shit about by people who haven't played it yet or when the occasional shit head gets angry about a review of a game that hasn't come out yet. However some games you don't have to play all the way through but should atleast put a few hours into it like FF or any other massive RPG. If you can't get into it after a few hours it's not a good sign.
i was gonna blast your post, but then i realized you just don't get the joke. so i'm just going to feel sorry for you.
though i already bought Bloodrayne Betrayal. i'll judge it myself thank you ^^
i also wonder why you hated Knights Contract???
The PS3 version of Dragon Age is the second best looking version. The PC being the best, obviously, and the 360 being the worst. There are a ton of videos online comparing all three versions. The 360 version looks like you are playing it through a dirty mirror with low res everything, especially the character models. The PS3 version is much sharper with better character models.
The PC version is the best of all of them, obviously. I'm surprised you bought it on a console if you knew you would have preferred the better graphics of the PC version. Just be happy you didn't buy the 360 version like so many of us accidentally did.

Is a good example of somebody who doesn't know what he's talking about.
Why are you defending things that aren't even being attacked?
Yes Some people like games that "aren't well received" but if 90% of people think it's shit. Then it's still shit. Nobody is saying you can't like shit. Maybe you like the texture of shit being pushed through your teeth with your own tongue. And thats fine.
I really Enjoyed Kingdom Under Fire: Circle of Doom. And that game is unfinished.
Because he gave it a 9/10. Thats a lot of hate there.
No, because it's cheap to bash small developers for not having money for good graphics. Or for their games not being perfect.
But that's probably the difference between critics and videogame reviewers. While every critic would bash the Action Movie before some B or C-Movie, Videogame critics lack the guts. Besides how he bashed Assassin Creed 2, that was a good one.
Then again, doesn't matter. Picking on the weak is a hobby of videogame journalist. Except for Yathzee, he is the only one in the video game review scene that got what critics actually do.
If you don't tell anyone they did a shitty job, they are going to think what they did was good.
I say Highlight the good points of the game. And feel free to stick to what works. But Fix the bad and everything will be alright!
