Our favorite sue-happy, one-man train wreck of an attorney Jack Thompson has already hit up the Florida Bar and Florida Supreme Court, Crecente's Hair Palace, other people that poke fun at him with lawsuits, and now he's going after the Alabama Bar.
According to GamePolitics, the reasons for this suit goes back to a 2005 case, Strickland vs. Sony, in which two cops were gunned down by 18-year-old Devon Moore, a fan of GTA III. Their families sought damages from Take Two, Rockstar, Sony, Wal-Mart and GameStop. This was a case that Jacko was actually booted from, with Circuit Court Judge James Moore actually yanking Thompson's ability to practice law in Alabama.
Mr. Thompson’s actions before this Court suggest that he is unable to conduct himself in a manner befitting practice in this state…
Jacko may have a few things lined up (22-page PDF of lawsuit), but things are already not looking good for him. The suit has been assigned to U.S. District Court Judge Paul Huck, who said in an earlier suit that "Thompson submits nothing beyond wild accusations of a vast conspiracy against him."
Also, in related news, Jack is in court in Miami this morning, doing his best to explain to Judge Adalberto Jordan why he shouldn't be referred to a disciplinary committee adding hardcore gay porn to the court docket in a September 24th filing.
He keeps on keeping on!
I agree with you. I WANT him to keep this up. It's just to good to be true.
So is Jack. But it's the bad kind.
So I don't have to see his mug everytime I log 2 D'TOID
email me @gmail if you're looking for it.
I had always wondered what would happen if JThompsonlake tried his act in my home state, and now I know. He gets disbarred without a second thought. I'm going to put a gold star by Alabama's name for this one.
Are you smarter than a state-lawyer. - Host Jackie of course.
Of course, when you only read the plaintiff complaint (or the defense response) without reading the other side, issues naturally seem one sided. I certainly hope that the Bar can counter his complaint and lay the smackdown; if they actually did act prejudicially towards him it just gives him more fuel for his OH POOR ME I'M SO PERSECUTED fire. Even though Thompson is probably the biggest asshole in the history of the legal profession, his rights still can't be violated just because he's a major dick. I hope the defense response is posted when it becomes available.
Man, why can't I be there to witness this!
Do I even *have* to say anything? :P
i want to be a lawyer also!
watch as he gets stripped of his ability to come after video games ever again...
Knowing him he will have played Number Munchers to prove a point on how violent video games are, and go insane and kill people. In the end, I wonder how many lives video games have saved... People taking out their anger on games instead of people...
