The indie games for the PAX 10 showcase have been chosen photo

The winners of this year's PAX 10 independent games showcase are in! Over 150 different projects were submitted, but ultimately only ten select games made the cut. Here they are, in alphabetical order:

A few of these indie games are already out and ready to be played, while others on the list aren't finished quite yet. Whatever the case may be, the links above will get you up to speed. Those attending PAX in September will have the opportunity to see them all up close and personal.

It's great to see such a wide variety in genres and styles, and it's always nice to find out about an interesting game you've somehow managed to avoid hearing about, which is the case for about half of the list for me.

The design for Machinarium is absolutely gorgeous. It's definitely peeked my interest.

Some seriously intriguing games on this list. I'm a bit puzzled by the blog for Closure though: no video of the product yet and lots of disclaimers about this and that not being done? Tick tick tick...

Liight looks really synaesthetic and fun; just wish they'd bring it to something other than WiiWare -_-

Machinarium looks aesthetically beautiful, and it looks like I'll try out the XBLA offerings (Getting this type of recognition, they gotta be at least okay). Good job for every game nominated.

I'm kind of ashamed of myself for not discovering the previous games developed by the guy making Machinarium. I'm unbelievably enamored with the thing already.

The style of Machinarium is certainly unique & borderline hypnotic, but the gameplay is looking a bit too point-and-click-adventurish. I can imagine being frustrated by the GUI-less screens where one is expected to click the right thing at the right time. Granted there's obviously some direction of the player's attention and probably some gradual unveiling of the game concepts etc, but some of those puzzles look pretty Myst-like in terms of trial-and-error tedium.

www.closuregame.com is the website for Closure. It's actually a Flash game that's beginning to be remade into a much larger scale PC game. On the website you can find the Flash game for free. The new one won't be out until next year or later.
