The improbable couple: EA and Mac

Behold -- Armageddon draws nigh! Electronic Arts has taken two positive steps in the past two days, so you know something's afoot. As soon as they make a game that I actually buy, the omniverse is finished. I hope you guys are right with Jesus.

Both Gizmodo and Engadget are at Apple's World Wide Developer's Conference and they're saying the same thing: that EA is putting its considerable weight behind Mac, that traditionally maligned and forgotten OS that could. Command & Conquer 3, Battlefield 2142, Need for Speed Carbon and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix should be availble in July while EA Sports titles (Tiger Woods '08 and Madden '08, for example) will drop, as usual, in the fall.

I, for one, have to applaud EA for this -- the more people that get to play games, the better. And with John Carmack's new game engine also bringing the love, who knows what will be in store for Mac gamers?

It's too bad Apple isn't working on providing more incentive to developers. Just when it looked like Mac gaming might increase, Apple released Boot Camp and basically said "go boot into Windows for your games." Lazy.

[trolling] Mac gamers? Isn't that an oxymoron? [/trolling]

I love how my overpriced bullshit works right every time, looks and feels great, and blows the doors off my friend's windows laptops. The fact that I'll be able to play EA sports games on it . . . means I'm still going to get them both for Wii instead.

EA are probably best positioned to support the Mac since most of their games are cross-platform to begin with. They clearly have a lot of expertise developing middleware that runs just about anywhere.

Oh wow... you mean to say that as a MAC owner, now I no longer need consoles... oh wait... this is the CASUAL game monolith.

Aaaah... right, sports, racing and war games... which is EXACTLY what I like to play. (sarcasm)

I don't see why news that they're releasing more games for Mac users to play causes you all to act like sarcastic asshats.
