The Halo 3 freebie bonanza: Get 'em while they're hot! photo

Well, while many of our friends and the foolish among us are doubtlessly lining up outside of Gamestop while I speak, the rest of us can patiently run our slimy hands over the exclusive free content that Microsoft is giving its customers to celebrate the launch. Starting from midnight tonight, a limited-time only theme and gamerpic can be downloaded to all Xbox Live Gold accounts. You read that right -- Microsoft is actually going to give stuff away.

Furthermore, this Thursday will see the release of Inside Bungie: Halo 3 -- The Story, a behind-the-scenes look at this year's biggest game release with staff interviews that will be available via the Marketplace. On Friday you'll be able to get Inside Bungie: Halo 3 -- New Features which looks at all the, well, new features in Halo 3.

You'll be able to nab this free stuff until September 30th, so Halo obsessives shouldn't delay. If you have a Gold Account, revel in the idea that The 'Soft is actually giving something out for free, and realise that the release of Halo 3 is truly an event, whether you love the game or hate it.

OMG, Microsoft finally put a realistic price on a theme and gamerpic. They should ALL be at this price.

I got free scratches on my Limited Edition disc...awesome. It is not enough to effect the game (i hope) but I can definately see this becoming an issue. The possibility that alot of the LE discs being scratched significantly seems pretty real based on my experiene. The disc was NOT held in place by the little nub. It was rolling around the case when I opened it

I heard free stuff from Microsoft gives you aids. I'm not saying it's true, just that I heard it.

I'd love free stuff. But I'd love my 360 to be back in less than 20 days. Yeh I'm still bitter.

Does anybody know if this is the same content that you can download for free off of Disc 2 of the legendary edition?

This stuff wasn't showing up for me last night.
When I logged on at 2am last night, 22 people were online, and no more than 4 were NOT playing Halo 3. Most of my friends already beat the game. Rediculous. I need teh haloez!

Yeah seriously, where's the free Halo 3 theme and gamer pics? It's not the Best Buy ones, right? I got my Legendary Master Chief helmet last night at a midnight event, and I haven't seen any free Halo 3 stuff yet, except for those stupid Spike TV videos (who watches that channel anyway?).
