The greatest Flash series you will ever watch; Super Mario Bros Z photo

If you know me, than you know I will never fail you when I say something is the greatest thing ever. You also know that I love to give you guys plenty of ways to entertain yourselves. One thing Destructoid hasn't been showing enough love to is the Flash movie and game creators. Sunday Sidequests will be making a return soon, but that still doesn't cover the other big spectrum of Flash, the animation and movie side.

I've had this idea to showcase the best in Flash movies but haven't really been able to decide on which direction to take the feature (As in, a cluster bomb Weekend Destructainment style or a sophisticated Art Attack style). Whenever I do finally figure it out is anyone's guess, but until then, I do want to draw your attention to this series called Super Mario bros Z by Alvin-Earthworm.

The premise of the series is this: Sonic and Shadow were battling Mecha Sonic in Mobius (their home world) over the Chaos Emeralds. Right before Mecha Sonic was able to absorb all of the 7 Chaos Emeralds, Shadow forced the Emeralds to teleport away from Mecha Sonic (and inadvertently into the Mushroom Kingdom). Mecha Sonic managed to teleport and follow the Emeralds path. So did Sonic and Shadow who managed to inadvertently save Mario from being defeated by Bowser. The Mario crew and Sonic crew then team up and hunt down the Chaos Emeralds before Mecha Sonic can get his hands on them and destroy the Mushroom Kingdom.

Episode 6 was just released recently and is easily the best episode yet. It's funny, witty, well done and has some of the best fight scenes I have ever seen in a Flash animation. And yes, the Z in the title does represent Dragon Ball Z. So the fighting has a very heavy influence to the DBZ style. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

If you're still skeptical about this, then start with Episode 6. It will ruin some of the surprises, but if you don't like the fight scene than there is something horribly wrong with you.

Episode 1: Bowser Return
Episode 2: Warriors From Another Dimension
Episode 3: A New Threat
Episode 4: Here come the Koopa Bros
Episode 5: Troubles on Yoshis Island
Episode 6: Brawl on a Vanishing Island

The art and animation were top-notch. Unfortunately the sound was horribly mixed and the "extreme" guitar loop got pretty annoying after the first 30 seconds.

Overall review: meh.

I thought the music and sound effects were used to great effect. I really enjoyed them, despite my firey hate for DBZ.

It's not possible to dislike that. The awesomeness could cure cancer.

Episodes 1-5 I could have done without. Episode 6 was pretty boss though.
