The God of War movie has a script, Uwe Boll sells first-born child photo

Entertainment Weekly, in an interview with David Jaffe, is reporting that the script for the God of War movie is complete.

Says Jaffe:

There's a really good script written by David Self, who wrote Thirteen Days for Kevin Costner. I keep expecting them to call me and say it's dead, but my fingers are crossed. We'll be sending the script out to a huge-name director.

A huge-name director? Very **cough** Peter Jackson **cough** interesting.

The God of War creator also goes on to say that Djimon Hounsou would be his dream actor to play Kratos.

Djimon Hounsou as Kratos. Absolutely. You have to get past the fact that Kratos is Greek, but in terms of the way he looks and his acting ability and his physique — I can't think of a better choice.

Whether the entire project comes together or not, the God of War movie could be pretty great. Kind of like a Clash of the Titans for a new generation.

What do you think? Would you be excited to see God of War on the silver screen? Besides Hounsou, who do you think would be the perfect actor to play Kratos (please no one say Vin Diesel)?

If Anthony Hopkins can play a moor, then I don't see why Djimon can't play a greek.

Yeah, I'm gonna be that guy: I could see Vin Diesel doing it. Admit it, he's a bad ass. And bald. And can get (more) ripped. And when he speaks, it makes me want to steal his voice like Ursula from The Little Mermaid.

I'm not familiar with Djimon Honsou, but he certainly looks the part, aside from his higher levels of melatonin.

OK I saw 300 yesterday and I'd say that Gerard Butler is the biggest badass ever he'd CRUSH Chuck Norris, so my vote flies in for Gerard Butler if he's willing to shave...

Ok, after much though into this, as Kratos is quite possibly the best character out of any video game ever, I think with a little makeup, KEVIN GREVIOUX, the guy from Underworld with the deep voice could pull it off. He's built, can give a commanding evil look and would be perfect for this role. If you're not sure who I mean look him up!

You can't get much better than Vin Diesel, He's jacked deep voice and bald perfect. Second choice would be Gerard Butler. He's pretty jacked up could put on a deep voice and in 300 when he got that cut over his eye I thought right away "A Possible Kratos!" But definetly Kevin Nash as Ares!

And on other topics, I think Hans Zimmer is the obvious choice to score the music for the God of War movie.

I have found who would be the best choice to play Kratos. Do a search for an actor named Franky G and make up your mind, but if you ask me this is the guy to get. He looks the most like Kratos out of any actor mentioned and also he would actually pass as being Greek. But Dominic Purcell would also be a good pick, forget about how crap Blade 3 was that wasn't Dominic's fault that was David Goyer's fault, he is a good writer but a poor director. Directors who should be considered for God of War should be Gore Verbinski,Peter Jackson(of course),Sam Raimi,Brett Ratner,George Romero(that would be cool),John Carptener,Chris Nolan.

The key to casting this... and im not racist..but for it to work.. he has to be white.. and tall.. any actor can bulk up for a movie...
We've seen to many movies ruined by poor casting... The Rock and Vin Diesel are horrible choices.
I wish someone would photoshop these 4 guys pictures..make em bald with no facial hair and Kratos gear and body paint...

Gerard Butler is my choice.. altho he prolly wouldnt do it.. since hes been a spartan warrior already. The actor

The key to casting this... and im not racist..but for it to work.. he has to be white.. and tall.. lengthy, protruding chin would be nice...and hes got the skinny head and long chin goin on.. what actor has that? And any actor can bulk up for a movie tho so we dont need a Rock/Diesel...
We've seen to many movies ruined by poor casting... The Rock and Vin Diesel are horrible choices. Kratos is tall and lanky. He is ripped, but not one big muscle like these two.
I wish someone would photoshop these 4 guys pictures..make em bald with no facial hair and Kratos gear and body paint...so we can vote on which one looks most like Kratos.. I bet Gerard Butler wins.

Gerard Butler is my choice.. there's a couple scenes in 300 where you swear it is Kratos would it not be for hair and beard....altho he prolly wouldnt do it.. since hes been a spartan warrior already. The actor who played Xerxes isnt that tall.. that was a movie trick.. but Xerxes could pass for Kratos. McConaughey is a little on the small side, but he gets in good shape for roles that demand ripped body i dont know about his accent though. Dolph Lundgren looks like him too, altho hes older and kind of a B or C list actor...on par with Diesel and Rock, only older. The cheap B grade actor in my box office smash hit movie just wont cut it... Do any of these ring a bell???? Doom/Universal Soldier 2/Chronicles of Riddick .. the list goes on and on...they all could of been so much better with Arnold, and even thats pushing it lol

Why are we so hang up with the way the movie version of [i]Kratos[i/] will look? He's just the sum of ideas that were floating around in some artist[s] mind. The best Hollywood can do is cast whoever they feel can channel Kratos best, however, it may not also be the guy who will put the most a$$e$ in theatre $eat$ and that i$ a big deal...the bottom line, actually.

I reeeaally don't want to see a wrestler-turned-actor playing the part just because he almost looks the part as represented by the original game images. As someone already mentioned, any actor can shave their head and bulk up for the role but he need not be as tall or ripped as his counterpart in the game. The voice can be fixed with modern technology and to answer the question about Kratos sounding black [whatever that means]...well, the voice actor in question is T.C. Carson.

To support my position on exact looks, accents and more, I submit the following:
-1- Compare Spidey in this comic book to his movie version [you've seen it for sure] and notice that the former is insanely ripped but somehow we've all been very satisfied with his diminished physique. I don't think Tobey Maguire looks anything like the Peter Parker in the comics who doesn't have the same look in all the issues anyway. There's more to Spider-man than his spandex stretching muscles and resemblance to the comic version.
-2- In some X-men comics, the illustrators make Wolverine uber-ripped beyond normal human body building limits just because they can - after all, he's a mutant. Hugh Jackman has succeeded as Wolverine not because he is super ripped or looks just like Logan, but because he can get into that character and bring him out...he's an excellent translation of the 2-d character.
-3- I certainly wasn't mad when the movie Blade came out and he wasn't using his traditional primary weapons, he'd had a complete makeover and his back story was even a little different...it just worked for me and for most of the audience I'm sure.
-4- The original illustrations of The Crow depict him as way more ripped than Brandon Lee - RIP, who was so awesome in that movie, again, because he could channel the 2-D characters rage, pain, despair etc.
Anyway, the list goes on an on. My first point is that as long as the actor is in great physical form and it can be seen, it doesn't have to equal that of the fantasy characters they are playing...
-5- The movie, 300 was full of no-name [not any more] British actors portraying Spartans...if anything, to maintain the story's authenticity, shouldn't they have told the story in a documentary format, remained true to every known detail without filling in the unknowns, chosen Greek as the language with subtitles, cast real Greeks to dramatize the events and shot on location in Sparta...would it have made the story more entertaining? maybe, maybe not. That reminds me of the HBO show Rome which is a British production and the Roman's all surprisingly have British accents...I totally hate the show for that...NOT. I also recall Robin Hood sounding a little American, Alexander a wee bit British, Achilles somewhat American...and oh, Maximus Decimus Meridius was definitely working on his Aussie drawl as he sought vengeance for his slain family.

Now, casting a black African leading man in God of War brings to the argument [and in one package] everything that's not Kratos to many fans. These are their sentiments in a nutshell.
-1- The obvious - He's black and Spartans are white. That not right! Blasphemy, I say, blasphemy! No-black-men-in-Sparta!
-2- The accent - He's no Brit, Canuck, Yankee or Aussie...his [look and] accent might just throw people off...way off to another screen at the local multiplex. We aren't used to our epic heroes sounding like that.
-3- He's not uber-ripped...which is now inconsequential since 1 and 2 above pretty much dismiss him as an ideal incarnation of Kratos in most peoples minds.
Still, those who want only a white or white-ish lead actor have a point and must be heard.I say, lets give the guy a chance...he may surprise us all.

The way I see it, if this movie gets made with Djimon Hounsou as the lead, it will be unrecognizable from the original game and would probably not even be titled God of War not that they won't use that to sell it. It's even possible that all the Spartan elements will be replaced with new Sparta-esque stuff to keep the resistance at a minimum.
[b]To me, the entertainment factor is key and historical significance takes a back seat.[/i] I don't turn to Ridley Scott et al, to educate me; I have books and other more reliable resources for that...
I hope the movie gets made and it kicks ass like 300.
