The God of War movie has a script, Uwe Boll sells first-born child photo

Entertainment Weekly, in an interview with David Jaffe, is reporting that the script for the God of War movie is complete.

Says Jaffe:

There's a really good script written by David Self, who wrote Thirteen Days for Kevin Costner. I keep expecting them to call me and say it's dead, but my fingers are crossed. We'll be sending the script out to a huge-name director.

A huge-name director? Very **cough** Peter Jackson **cough** interesting.

The God of War creator also goes on to say that Djimon Hounsou would be his dream actor to play Kratos.

Djimon Hounsou as Kratos. Absolutely. You have to get past the fact that Kratos is Greek, but in terms of the way he looks and his acting ability and his physique — I can't think of a better choice.

Whether the entire project comes together or not, the God of War movie could be pretty great. Kind of like a Clash of the Titans for a new generation.

What do you think? Would you be excited to see God of War on the silver screen? Besides Hounsou, who do you think would be the perfect actor to play Kratos (please no one say Vin Diesel)?

Now now, I think with a good director, a solid script, and grat casting this could easily be a good movie.

As far as people who could play Kratos...wow...uhh...I honestly don't know. There just doesn't seem to be anyone with the physique I can think of and also is bald. I honestly don't know.

Peter Jackson is in to deep with the Microsoft camp making the Halo movie (thats never being made) and his Halo "game" to make a God of War movie for Sony.

I dunno if Dominic Purcell's tall enough to be Kratos. He's definitely badass enough.

I think we're all overlooking the blatantly obvious choice for this role:

Erm... I don't know about the U.S. But up here in Canada anyone can shave their head. Hounsou could be interesting, but sadly Kratos was Spartan (i.e. white), more than that he was a Spartan King, so having someone of a different race would require some changes to the story. Anyhow if the Phantom of the Opera can play Leonidas (and Dracula 200 ftw) I'm pretty sure they can get a good (or really bad) actor and pump him up. Hell if Hugh (I do musicals) Jackman can do Wolverine anyone can play a tough guy.

+1 for Gerard Butler. All the while I was watching 300, I kept saying, "This guy should be Kratos." I think just about everybody has said it at least once when the 300 trailers were fist starting to make the rounds.

Jaffe has talked about this script for nearly a year now. I'm hesitant to see it actually take off. There's so much room for failure; but if done right, it can be a hugely epic, gorgeous film. Don't eff it up, suckas.

2nd who can wear white very well (kinda hard for Djimon)

the obvious choice is Howard Dean...YEAAAHHHHHH!!!!!

What about that first brother from Prison Break? I mean, I like Dominic Purcell, but I don't think he's a very good actor. I mean, I'm just speaking from the heart here. Why not Wentworth Miller? (the first bro) I mean, he has the height, he's got the physic, and as a lady geek I can say without any hesistation that he's super sexy hot. Frankly, I don't think that Vin Diesel would do it. Lately he's been turning away from roles like that (i.e. actiony and the rest).
Philonious's Avatar

I dont know about Djimon...I don't think he will be ripped enough.

I don't know if anyone has said anything but perhaps Gerald Butler might be a good try? Yes I know he already played a Spartan and the roles are familiar but he is pretty ripped and his voice when yelling is close (even though Kratos sounds like he is black...). Anyone else agree?
BlindsideDork's Avatar

Djimon Hounsou, wow... didn't occur to me before, but I can see that. Jason Statham isn't bad either, but I worry Kratos will end up using kung fu to fight minotaurs if he's cast. :)
deiga-the-semivaliant's Avatar
deiga-the-semivaliant at 03/10/2007 22:27
It doesn't matter what ethnicity the actor who plays as Kratos is... his skin is so pale white that they'll have to work Hollywood magic on anyone who assumes the mantle of our favorite Spartan killer.

If they can make a naked chick have scales and blue skin, they can make a black man look pale white.
UnknownHeadFeelings's Avatar
UnknownHeadFeelings at 03/10/2007 22:32
I think Statham's accent would get in the way, even if he did a good job on the acting.

Honestly, I can't think of a single person who could pull it off. They would really have to search and put a lot of thought into the choice.

Then again, if Hugh Jackman didn't look stupid bald, he might be able to do it...

Djimon Honsou would be awesome as Kratos!!!!
Imagine the story being slightly altered, like Kratos being the son of moors in Greece or something...
