The last we ever saw of The Getaway on PlayStation 3 was way back in 2006, where Piccadilly Circus was shown off in impressive, supposedly real-time glory. Of course, that was two years ago, so you'd be forgiven for thinking the title was scrapped. You'd think wrong, however, as Sony has come out of the woodwork to confirm that the next Getaway sequel is still coming.
Screenplay writer Katie Ellwood has confirmed that the game is in development, and has promised that the PlayStation 3 will provide a more engaging experience than ever before. "We can stream a wider variety of dialog and animations to progress the story and characterization rather than breaking the flow of the game play for a cutscene," she stated. "If games are about immersion, then we are now about to deepen that immersion."
As well as the game, Ellwood also claimed that Sony is looking into a Getaway movie, revealing that the House of Blu-ray is sniffing around several production houses for a film that ties in with the third chapter of the franchise.
No details have been spilled as far as a release date go, but Ellwood promised that the game script is an exciting one, and hinted that they have a writer on board that will be just as thrilling. That's all for now, but if Katie's "watch this space," comment is anything to go by, we could be hearing something sooner rather than later.
They were pretty bad.
I dont read instruction manuals im cool like that....
P.S.This game could make a really good movie if Guy Ritchie directs it.
I just wonder if we'll have to pay that stupid congestion charge in game
(The '94 remake with Alec Baldwin/Kim Basinger, not so much)
It's funny though, now the standard is "hide and heal," and it doesn't phase me. I guess just the fact that you have to lean against a wall throws me off.
