The Force Unleashed gets a release date photo

Look, I drink...

... and from time to time I watch Star Wars like it is was the cure for my disease. So to say this translates over to my gaming habits is almost a no-brainer. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is a game that some of us Star Wars nerds here at Destructoid have been raving about for months, and now we know when we will get to play it. Here is a chunk of the press release, filtered for your pleasure.

San Francisco, Calif. – April 3, 2008 – LucasArts today announced that its highly anticipated videogame Star Wars®: The Force Unleashed™ will be released on September 16, 2008 in the United States, September 17 in Southeast Asia and Australia, and September 19 in Europe.

Once again, Europe, a small country near Heathrow airport, will have to wait a little longer to get their grubby hands on it. I blame Naomi Campbell and the new Terminal 5. Be sure to check out Spike TV's weekend long marathon of Star Wars, when they promise they'll announce even more info, and show off some new gameplay footage.

This is a good time-frame for me. I'll likely just gotten bored of MGS4, and only be playing GTAIV for shits and giggles online. My cup runneth over.

Yay delayed by 5 months . . . Presumably the game in it's current state was deemed poor and was in need of some serious additional work.

The release date has been listed on GameFly as 9/30 for quite a while now, they were close! I think this game will either be completely amazing or suck worse than AIDS. Or somewhere in between.

Well, I'm offically not getting this now due to the 5 month delay. Sorry, but Fallout 3, Spore, and that fucking RTS expansion that I've been meaning to play for 4 months now are on my priority for Fall/Winter.

Atleast that's assuming this was even coming to PC.

@Ron Now if I could figure out when Starcraft 2 was coming out, Id have another piece of the puzzle put together in my 'stalking Ron Workman file'.

I know a friend of mine who will be very pissed about this, and I will laugh and tell him to buy one of the other games he's been dodging, using this game as an excuse for why he's saving his money.

HURAAAAAAAAAAAAABAAWHOOOT! This is my most anticipated game of the year(apart from relase it in fucking europe rock band). I actually wouldn't mind a few more delays for this though. It looks so fucking sweet I'd just rather they get it all right first time, rather than some shitty rush job.

Also, europe is only getting it later because we only get game releases on fridays because it's the law or some shit.
