Final Fantasy XIII-2's first DLC is available today. This is a Coliseum battle where Lightning and her old chubby faced boss in the 'force' go up against FFXIII-2's main heroes. If you beat Lightning and Master Sergeant Amodar they can be added to your party. DLC "Lightning and MasterSergeant Amodar" is ready to download on XBLA and PSN right now.
Square Enix says that more episodes that "enhance the experience" of FFXIII-2 will be released at a later date. Some have storyline branches for key characters.
There's a few new screenshots of the new DLC in our gallery below. Check out the massive gun that Amodar uses!.

Destructoid is an open discussion community. You don't need to "audition" to post a comment - just speak your mind. We respect differing opinions on the site, so have at it. Be smart, funny, insightful, clueless, or cute -- but back it up with substance. Keep your cool, keep it fun. We only ask that you act respectfully and above all: don't be a troll and ruin it for everyone else. Don't bring down gamers or we'll, you know, gently shoot you in the face and stuff you into a flaming mailbox. Each comment is your opportuntity to make this community awesomer. Is that even a word?
Avoiding the banhammer only requires common sense: spamming, trolling, racism, NSFW stuff, and other forms of sucking will not be tolerated. If anyone is griefing please report abuse. Be good. Don't suck!
Back in the day we used to call these "end-game boss battles", and find them for free underwater or in the desert :D
Well that's just silly.
Do they count Chocolina as a "key character"?
The beauty is all hers but the DLC can be yours if you show her the money!
@Chris Carter
Underwater battles are fairly easy, dessert ones though, I have NEVER been able to beat :(
Fuck this industry. Where is all the endgame content that helps make a game survive after beating it? Why must you do this?!
Emerald and Ruby Weapon for life.
Until they're $10 DLCs for FFVII's Playstation 4 remake :p
So... before bitching TOO much about how this "should've been on the disk" remember that what IS on the disk is a metric SHIT TON of stuff.
In fairness I stopped buying FF games right around the PS2 era, they are just largely too predictable oft cliche. But I will say their battle system was making some decent strives when I last played a FF game.
Really haven't looked back and reviews that essentially peg the latest games as linear for the first 20hrs or so ..... really aren't making me want to jump back in when there is so much else out there :P
I know the fighting is the same as before, total shit. Please choose which variety of autobattle you wish to use for this fight. Fuck that, and fuck you SquareEnix
I would probably classify FF at this point with M. Night Shyamalan movies. The first few are freaking great with all sorts of "twists".
But after the first three or so you can predict the end of the movie and most of the significant plot points before the opening scene/credits finish ~.~
Oh well. Highly doubt it makes a difference because recruiting her as you're finding her is the biggest paradox ever. *wink wink* Plus I'm sure she'll be tolerable to fight probably at the end of the game.
Yup. They deliberately made the last fight on the disc end on a cliffhanger with "To be continued..." flashing on the screen. They either want you to buy $15 DLC for that last fight or make Final Fantasy XIII-3 and charge you $60 for some resolution.
A weeaboo and their money are soon parted.
*Pushes glasses up nose*
Don't worry, if it's too hard there will be a dlc item or character u can pay for down the line that will help you beat it, I'm sure.
Because final fantasy has turned from a triple a starlet to a hooker? Just a guess.
Shame it's not the updated Lightning though, in her badass armour.
I still haven't bothered beating my pre-order Omega DLC for FFXIII-2. I tried at the very beginning of the game and he killed everybody in one hit.
I for one certainly am not going to call a developer who delivers to me a great game that leaves me lamenting its completion and pining for more lazy for not pushing DLC. I'm going to call them the artists that they are for crafting such a fine game.
Quite the opposite tends to be true I see lots of developers offering tepid games and lazily appending DLC to them to milk them for as much as they can for as long as they can before their next tepid title.
I have never complained at a lack of DLC, maybe support in the form of patches or something, but never by a lack of additional content. Especially with games like Final Fantasy, they used to have tons of end game content to spoil even the most hardcore completionist.
or as random battles, or in chests, or in caves on the moon, or in the final dungeon just wondering around,or in the air, or in a tower, or in an island in the sky or just in the sky randomly after you beat up some dark aeons EVEN DARK BAHAMUT WHOS A GOD DAMN PIECE SHIT AND CAN GO DIE IN A FIRE FUCK YOU PENANCE!!!!
/fix
But before lambasting anybody too hard, can someone clear up for me whether or not there is sufficient(by FF standards) postgame? Is there some kind of secret endgame weapon/ozma/penance style thing, or are they selling it to us? I hear Omega Weapon is a pre-order bonus, and that's kind of shit, this kind of thing has been an FF staple for longer than I care to remember...
