The first DLC for Final Fantasy XIII-2 drops today photo

Final Fantasy XIII-2's first DLC is available today. This is a Coliseum battle where Lightning and her old chubby faced boss in the 'force' go up against FFXIII-2's main heroes. If you beat Lightning and Master Sergeant Amodar they can be added to your party. DLC "Lightning and MasterSergeant Amodar" is ready to download on XBLA and PSN right now.

Square Enix says that more episodes that "enhance the experience" of FFXIII-2 will be released at a later date. Some have storyline branches for key characters.

There's a few new screenshots of the new DLC in our gallery below. Check out the massive gun that Amodar uses!.

I'm conflicted on this.

Back in the day we used to call these "end-game boss battles", and find them for free underwater or in the desert :D

Well that's just silly.

I am conflicted as well as this seems like on disc(or at least should be) and just paygated which is a terrible thing in a rpg like this I hope this does poorly for square so that they can maybe get the hint that people are more interested in buying whole games, not being nickled and dimed after paying 60$

Soo.... much for all those people who said saying the to be continued meant impending DLC was jumping the gun :P

Do they count Chocolina as a "key character"?

The beauty is all hers but the DLC can be yours if you show her the money!

It's utterly despicable that this was made DLC. But as much as I'd love to shove it in Square Enix's face, I just can't resist. Lightning, man! *sigh*

Underwater battles are fairly easy, dessert ones though, I have NEVER been able to beat :(

Instead of finding the hidden arena with hidden bosses underwater or in the dessert. You now find a large steel door with a keyhole, and next to that keyhole is a tag that reads "Pay $5.00 to enter."

Fuck this industry. Where is all the endgame content that helps make a game survive after beating it? Why must you do this?!

While I totally get why people are gonna be upset over the fact that this is DLC. But to it's credit, FFXII-2 is a damn fine game as is. Not to mention it's just as long as any proper final fantasy game. I just beat last night and I clocked in at just over 30 hours. And I did that knowing that there is a significant number of things to do. Hell, there are at least 8 or 9 times I haven't even unlocked yet. Currently sitting pretty at 50/160 fragments.

So... before bitching TOO much about how this "should've been on the disk" remember that what IS on the disk is a metric SHIT TON of stuff.

@Ujn Hunter

In fairness I stopped buying FF games right around the PS2 era, they are just largely too predictable oft cliche. But I will say their battle system was making some decent strives when I last played a FF game.

Really haven't looked back and reviews that essentially peg the latest games as linear for the first 20hrs or so ..... really aren't making me want to jump back in when there is so much else out there :P

Final Fantasy 13 sucked so much dick. I won't buy Final Fantasy 13-2. I imagine it will suck cock as well.

I know the fighting is the same as before, total shit. Please choose which variety of autobattle you wish to use for this fight. Fuck that, and fuck you SquareEnix

@Ujn Hunter

I would probably classify FF at this point with M. Night Shyamalan movies. The first few are freaking great with all sorts of "twists".

But after the first three or so you can predict the end of the movie and most of the significant plot points before the opening scene/credits finish ~.~

Fucking gross. Collector's Edition buyers should've at least gotten fucking pass for this garbage.

Oh well. Highly doubt it makes a difference because recruiting her as you're finding her is the biggest paradox ever. *wink wink* Plus I'm sure she'll be tolerable to fight probably at the end of the game.

I'm fine with storyline expansions that add new chapters, etc. RDR and Fallout did this well. Paying to unlock shit that Is on the disc already is lame. If your DLC is less than 100mb I don't want it

Square Enix is making me suspicious lately, releasing DLC so close to the release date. They did it with Deus Ex: Human Revolution. Eidos is Square Enix Europe, so don't correct me.

@Mindkiller89

Yup. They deliberately made the last fight on the disc end on a cliffhanger with "To be continued..." flashing on the screen. They either want you to buy $15 DLC for that last fight or make Final Fantasy XIII-3 and charge you $60 for some resolution.

A weeaboo and their money are soon parted.

How much is it? If it's 200 points or less, I'd get it.

I still haven't bothered beating my pre-order Omega DLC for FFXIII-2. I tried at the very beginning of the game and he killed everybody in one hit.

lamenting completion of a good game and wishing there was more != complaining that a game doesn't have DLC.

I for one certainly am not going to call a developer who delivers to me a great game that leaves me lamenting its completion and pining for more lazy for not pushing DLC. I'm going to call them the artists that they are for crafting such a fine game.

Quite the opposite tends to be true I see lots of developers offering tepid games and lazily appending DLC to them to milk them for as much as they can for as long as they can before their next tepid title.

I have never complained at a lack of DLC, maybe support in the form of patches or something, but never by a lack of additional content. Especially with games like Final Fantasy, they used to have tons of end game content to spoil even the most hardcore completionist.

what annoyed me is that the is the same as the omega weapon dlc, defeating lighting and the lutenant doesn't automatically give you them, it only gives you a CHANCE to get them as a crystal drop from the battle. After defeating them twice and omega weapon 3 times, i still don't have a single one. and when I'm paying for the dlc, £3 or £30 i expect to actually get something garunteed for beating a battle thats harder than one of the 4-5 end boss battles. thanks square enix! you've made me decide not to bother with any more of your dlc till you fix this s**t

I never fail to be entertained by how hard the Dtoid community cries every time some game gets some DLC.

But before lambasting anybody too hard, can someone clear up for me whether or not there is sufficient(by FF standards) postgame? Is there some kind of secret endgame weapon/ozma/penance style thing, or are they selling it to us? I hear Omega Weapon is a pre-order bonus, and that's kind of shit, this kind of thing has been an FF staple for longer than I care to remember...

What level/part of the game should this DLC be sensible to buy (yes, assuming that buying it is worth it).
