This is it, folks: the final trailer for Rockstar’s upcoming Grand Theft Auto IV. After this there is only waiting to look forward to until the game hits shelves on April 29.
What do I think, you ask? Well, I think it looks great. I love the scope of all the action. I love the voice acting. I love the polish. I love the rain. Most importantly, though, I love the way it all feels like GTA, just a lot shinier.
But my humble opinion doesn’t matter. What do you all think? Are you more excited than ever? Is this enough of a final tease to get you through this last agonizing month?
Awesome trailer! I never was too excited for this game, but since it's practically the only big release relatively soon I'm starting to gain more and more interest.
I'm not a big GTA fan, but it looks good enough to interest me, which is saying something. This may eventually end up in my collection, especially if the online play is good.
I was particularly excited by the magic show (wondering if this is another one of the things you can 'experience', along with the comedy clubs). Also, just from watching these trailers, Niko comes across as such a well-rounded character. Goodness me, that trailer had class and flair. I'm just looking forward to occupying that world, exploring it, and, I'm sure, being endlessly surprised by what I find.
I've never really gotten into the GTA games, but this one has really peaked my intrest with the more serious route it looks like they are taking. I'm anxious to try it out.
I was going to buy this regardless, but after watching this I just suspect so many games are going to look like amateur efforts or tech demos in comparison.
God it looks so good. Yeah, what are you guys talking about that IS in game. Alot of it probably IS gameplay just shot from dramatic angles. You know I came when the Euphoria ragdoll was kicking in at the roll down the stars and explosion bit. I like how this is the "final trailer" and the game isn't coming out for another month pretty much. I've never been so excited about a GTA title in awhile and it feels really good. I remember playing the original on a PC Gamer demo CD back in the day and thinking how awesome and fun it was. Samething with GTA2. But nothing would prepare me for GTA3, and I think that's the same feeling that I'm channeling now. Sure, Vice City was a bit fun for me but it didn't last long and San Andreas I hardly even played because honestly those games were nothing but expansion packs. THIS is a TRUE sequel and it looks and sounds absolutely amazing. All I really want now is more footage of multiplayer, I just can't fathom how amazing it will be. I mean a duck & cover system, vehicles, massive areas to roam around in. ALL within the glory of the Euphoria engine. I'm not gonna lie, I'm pretty excited.
Also, has there been any talks about a HUD? I wonder if they're gonna try to do the whole hidden HUD thing, considering that's building up to be a larger fad.
I'm all for an understated HUD as I think this would be in keeping with the way GTA IV's graphical style/art direction appears to be somewhere between realism and heightened reality.
From what I have heard it is a very simple black and white HUD, part of which will disappear after a few moments after you pick your weapon. And then it will reappear when you need it. Much like how it is in COD4.
That's not actual gameplay footage. It's not what you control or rather if you do. You're controlling the game in cinematic view. What everyone wants is to finally see a shot of the charcter as you control him running down the street. Which rockstar is yet to show.
Look i'm controlling this running down the block. It's my POV in the game. That's what people mean when they say they wanna see gameplay footage of GTAIV. Yeah of course the source material in these trailers is taken from the gameplay engine. Who makes FMV cutscenes anymore? But we wanna see what we actually control.
I say that Rockstar still knows how to make a trailer to generate hype. If I can get through my gaming pile in time I'm pretty sure I'll pick this up. :)
I really hope the storyline plays out as theatrically as all the trailers do. They could make a movie using this game's engine and characters and stuff and I'd likely pay money to see it.
As a person who has hated every GTA game since the first one, holy fuck this game looks good. As a few others have said though, now we see if the game can live up to the trailers.
The frame rate still seems rough in some spots, but I hope that's just the video.
PROTIP: When you embed vids like this it won't play for people who aren't registered at their site because you have to do an age verification so this won't play for people such as myself who can't be bothered to register and then you have actually go to the site and that is annoying.
So people actually think these graphics are good? I mean, that is pug-ugly compared to stuff like bioshock or mass effect or gears, or practically any action game released in the past two years. I'm not saying the game won't be good, and from the trailer the story looks pretty strong(with good VOs), but goddamn it ain't pretty.
@brad drac
The GTA series has always been behind the curve visually, it's not a graphics whore franchise. The improvement over the ps2 generation is huge though.
Can't wait. This will be the only thing I play for May and beyond once it's out.
What Hamza said. I am going to sink so many hours into this game! Also, that trailer was pretty awesome.
Awesome trailer! I never was too excited for this game, but since it's practically the only big release relatively soon I'm starting to gain more and more interest.
I want. I want it so hard.
My time, gone it will be!
I love it! It looks great
OMG! ... OH.. EHM... GEEE...!
Still no gameplay.
But damn it looks amazing.
I loved when the guy fell down the stairs realistically.
wow! cant wait for this one. I wish some gameplay footage would show up..
I'm not a big GTA fan, but it looks good enough to interest me, which is saying something. This may eventually end up in my collection, especially if the online play is good.
I had managed to keep my hype under control until watching that, now I can feel the raving fanboy in me about to explode.
cheeburga? What the hell are you talking about? That's ALL gameplay dude. GTA has never had a animated cut scene since GTA III.
I was particularly excited by the magic show (wondering if this is another one of the things you can 'experience', along with the comedy clubs). I can't believe its almost out. This better be awesome.
I was going to buy this regardless, but after watching this I just suspect so many games are going to look like amateur efforts or tech demos in comparison.
strip club booty FTW!!!
Cant wait. This game will eat my social life.
@ Hamza
I meant, the uhm, what's that called..the Mini map and everything on the screen.
Chad:
Unrelated but amazing: http://modblog.bmezine.com/2008/03/24/what-is-it-with-unicorns/
this is all gameplay footage? no aiming reticle or over the shoulder view?
either way me likey!
Chee: Oh I see now. Also, my gmail has been acting up all day. Don't know why I can't chat with you.
Anyway, Chee does bring up a good point. None of the screens have shown that interface yet either.

Just payed for mine in full last week, I cannot wait! This will surely be the greatest thing the world has ever seen!
OK not really, but it's gonna be fucking amazing.
Looks Sweet. I count the days
The guy falling down the stairs kinda made me cringe. This will probably be the only game I buy between now and MGS4. Money is tight.
*faptorze*
@JohnTheCrow,
Shoot, that site is blocked for me here! Checking later ... :)
Even my non gamer friend here is looking forward to this game. He had to ask me what it was going to be called though.
I'm all for an understated HUD as I think this would be in keeping with the way GTA IV's graphical style/art direction appears to be somewhere between realism and heightened reality.
SHiny is right.. Everything's . . .Shiny . . .
Looking forward to it.
This looks great. I cannot wait for it to come on out.
Chad! I'm so excited for this game! Damnit, I need to get a 360 quick! I've been a HUGE GTA fan from the start!
And the ragdoll looks so awesome, when that dude is being shot down the stairs! Hahaha
From what I have heard it is a very simple black and white HUD, part of which will disappear after a few moments after you pick your weapon. And then it will reappear when you need it. Much like how it is in COD4.
that song was really shitty. ruined the whole thing.
Was going to say that it looks nice but I was hoping the frame rates would be more constant but since everyone is in love with this game...
Oh shit this looks awesome. Going to go pre-order this ASAP!
You know that feeling you get after watching something so awesome that you just feel like a badass?
Yeah. Totally have that feeling again.
That's not actual gameplay footage. It's not what you control or rather if you do. You're controlling the game in cinematic view. What everyone wants is to finally see a shot of the charcter as you control him running down the street. Which rockstar is yet to show.
Ok.. now I just need an ps3 or xbox 360 to play it.....
DO WANT
I look forward to riding around in helicopters and likely crashing into buildings while in the company of other fellow Grand Theft Toiders.
I say that Rockstar still knows how to make a trailer to generate hype. If I can get through my gaming pile in time I'm pretty sure I'll pick this up. :)
"Right nea' de beach... BOYEE!"
Splooge on rockstars face.
I really hope the storyline plays out as theatrically as all the trailers do. They could make a movie using this game's engine and characters and stuff and I'd likely pay money to see it.
im gonna run over sooooooooooo man people just to see the euphoria engine at work.
As a person who has hated every GTA game since the first one, holy fuck this game looks good. As a few others have said though, now we see if the game can live up to the trailers.
The frame rate still seems rough in some spots, but I hope that's just the video.
That was ass.
Of the bad variety.
Shit, I didn't realize this was coming out so soon.

The frame-rate issues seemed to be ironed out for the most part, though I did see some stutters here and there.
Since I'll be (hopefully) picking up the MGS4 bundle, I'll most likely get this for the PS3.
But it looks fantastic.
Well... I'm sold...
Just a bit worried about the issues they had with Bully so if they iron out any frame rate problems, or even if they don't, I'm probably getting this.
what a dumbass song. :(
Ive been looking forward to this for years. Got the special edition preordered/paid for.
Wow, that looks awesome, I wasn't overly hyped about this one, but maybe I will have to buy it. Oh woah is me.
i think i speak for my brother and myself right now...
DO WANT NOW PLZTHXBY.

The video is borked! I must find it..
The old guy on the couch sounds like Ray Liotta. Kind of looks like Tommy Vercetti, too.
WEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!
ME want, me want, me want.
